Two prizes for the price of.. ½?

TiggerSharkTiggerSharkIl y a 2 ansLoot
At some point I ordered (from the AmiAmi preowned section) some prize figures because they were just so ridiculously cheap I couldn't resist. I believe, in euros, I paid something like 1 euro for Itsuki and 4 euros for Honoka, plus shipping of course (which, with SAL, wasn't that bad either). They arrived at the same time despite some delay between the order dates, but I'm not complaining~!

Oddly, only one of them had the "thanks for buying from us" card typical to AmiAmi (how often do they change the design, anyway? I've got two kinds before, but this one has been sticking around for a while now so I've got about 15 of them). Behold, boxes!

As you can see, they're both simple prize figures, one by Sega (Honoka) and the other by FuRyu. I was pleasantly surprised by the FuRyu quality (aside from some seam lines), and unpleasantly surprised by the Honoka one. At least, thankfully, neither of them share the stand issues of my previous prize figure.

Honoka's figure actually has that plasticy sheen I associate with bootlegs, so despite there not being any known ones for this figure, I'm somewhat dubious about its origins and quality. Her face and stomach are especially bad examples of it, though hopefully I somewhat minimized it in the pictures.

FULL CHARGE AHEAD! is what she looks like to me, personally.

Aside from the plasticy sheen, she's not too bad in quality - the sculpt and pose are nice enough, there are no huge painting issues and she stands firmly despite only having one connection point with the stand.

Moving on to Itsuki, there's a serious lack of goods aside from Yuuna for the series. I quite liked Itsuki's character, so that's a bit sad. While being quite small, her figure surprised me with the quality of it. Aside from some obvious seam lines in her hair, she's very well made; the painting job is good and her face is lovely.

Looking both shy yet cheerful as in the series.

That was my today's loot, aside from some sports gear of unrelated origins. Considering what I paid for them, I'm fully satisfied despite the plastic-shine and hair seams; they're still nice figures. Here's a bonus pic of my Sylveon with a magic wand, because I was lacking a place to put it what with the Figma already having the other one; plus Sylveons can do magic if they want, right?

(I had a shiny one in the game, but alas they don't make shiny pokemon plushies. Curse them.)

I do this on Mandarake all the time to pad an order up to 5000 yen >_> Congrats on these girls for such a good deal, they're really cute! I really really love Furyu's prize figs tbh. The paint work sometimes has a few issues but their sculpts are usually really nice and the poses can be pretty dynamic! I can photoshop out paint problems but if a sculpt is weird and the figure doesn't photograph well, there's no saving it!

I just opened a pf today and my biggest issue with him is the sculpt. His paint work is honestly very nice (albeit plain, but aside from a tiny mark on his ear it's all in the right place which is more than I can say about most pfs) but his face leaves a lot to be desired. But he was free, so I can't complain at all really!

As for the plastic shine, you could get a matte sealant and reseal Honoka if it really bothers you? I'm used to hair seams because of nendoroids having them. If they bother me in photos, I just photoshop them out.

Thanks for sharing!

TiggerShark (Il y a 2 ans) #3691680I still haven't the slightest idea how to tell these two apart (and believe me I spent a while staring at their pics trying to), but I changed it to the other one :P. At least the hand position is a dead giveaway for the third version x'D
You can also tell the difference by the box.

WF Limited ver.: picture/1382991...
Second release: picture/1313477...

Also the base on the WF Limited ver. clearly have a Wonder Festival lettering on it. The other two have only the name stated.

I hope that helps.^^

Bones (Il y a 2 ans) #3691531Yes, Sega only reused the base from this Honoka for their official photos for the variant. That's why the final base differ from the official photos.^^

TiggerShark (Il y a 2 ans) #3691520I wondered which one it is, but the base is wrong from that one; I figured it might be the other one based on that, since I couldn't see the base in those pics. Are you sure it's that one? If so, the bases are still different 8'D

KalasRaven (Il y a 2 ans) #3688371Ahhh Itsuki!! <3333 She's quickly become one of my favorite female anime characters. I hope Alter makes a figure of her. If not, I'm happy to have this adorable Itsuki. X3 She looks great for a prize figure and it really captures her personally well.

Itsuki is great, and she's such a good person it's hard not to like her~

Bones (Il y a 2 ans) #3691490I only wanted to point out that you actually got this Honoka and not the Wonder Festival limited version.

If she was a pokemon, she'd be very sought after :D

Hmm but that's hardly a flattering angle with the light shining on her like that, I still think she doesn't look too bad ahaha. Also I'm pretty sure I have the Nico from the same set and I don't really have any issues with her.

TiggerShark (Il y a 2 ans) #3686709Suppose that at least means she's official :P. The two other prize figures I have didn't have the sheen issue, so this is a first for me; I prefer the ones without, for sure!
Thanks for clearing that up for me, though xD
It kinda depends but it usually has something to do with the color of the skin tone. I guess its just the materials that are used. You can use a matte paint finish with a q-tip if it bothers you a lot though. Some "higher end" prize figures dont have it but the cheaper ones are usually a little shiny.
