Mm, yes. Welcome!

I started collecting figures in 2007... Kidrobot's Pure Trance set of Kaori and Keiko - proud of that set, because I was able to meet Mizuno Junko herself and get the figures autographed! The following year, the first Japanese scale I bought was Donne Anonime from Alter's Tre Donne Crudeli series. I discovered her while randomly browsing, and seeing her photos on HappySoda confirmed that I just -had- to have her. Unfortunately I knew nothing about collecting, and soon enough every outlet which carried her (mind you, I knew nothing of Japanese hobby sites at this point, outside of JPQueen for doujinshi/books) was sold out. In desperation I hunted and hunted for a reasonably priced one, and eventually found a seller from Japan who sold her for just $70 plus shipping on eBay, and the rest is history!

Sort of. My collecting back then was pretty easygoing, but by 2011 I had to take a long hiatus because of life - and at that time the exchange rate wasn't making it any more easy to continue. I didn't come back into effect until late 2012, when seeing Nendoroid Kuroyukihime up-close pulled me back in.

Fun fact: "Donne Anonime" is plural and should be Donna Anonima!
Bonus Anecdote: There was a fire scare while I wasn't home one day, and the fire department had to inspect every room. I was so proud to come home and see one of them had shifted her on my desk to look at her! LOL!

Since these questions are commonly asked in blogs:

Favorite companies? Clearly I've loved Alter since day one... OrchidSeed for 18+ figures... Wing for their Nitro+ line and simply daring to touch on what others have not... ;p

Favorite shops?
Hobby Search for excellent service and the best points system so far. BiginJapan for prize figures and low prices. CrunchyRoll for Deals of the Day.

Favorite things to collect? Sansei Muramasa/FMDM and (formerly) wooser no Sono Higurashi. I won't say I have the world's biggest collection of those, but possibly the biggest in the US. Gotta love niche! My collection of scales is made of mostly angels, devils, and fighting girls!

Wished figures? Michiko Malandro (Michiko to Hatchin) // Travis Touchdown (No More Heroes) // Minato Kageaki (Soukou Akki Muramasa) // Bizen Sayoko and Tanba Emi (Slut Girl) // Kokkuri-san and Shigaraki (Gugure! Kokkuri-san) // Senkan Seiki (KanColle) // Anarista (Queen's Blade) // Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou trading figures

Collecting 'mistakes'? The minor one was not buying Kamina when he was available to me. The paint job on his cape in the finished product looked awful to me so I passed. Good thing I don't pine for him...
The major one was simply not knowing how much the price of Love is War DX had gone up over time, because I didn't watch the aftermarket during my hiatus. So... I missed the chance to buy her direct from GSC at NYCC, thinking "Ah, that price is so much for a figure..." /idiot

Future of collecting? Well, I've got a tiny living area and only but so much space to house my collection. Plus, as time passes I'll only find other things I want to invest in (surely I want to visit Japan someday instead of just sending my money to them...). So ever so often I do some collection evaluating and refining, keeping in mind how everything will be displayed. Once I made this into a habit, my collection only became more beautiful.

If I had unlimited space and money... well, that's what the Unlimited Collection is for.
