Sasuke Uchiha Taka: 1/10 X-tra Scale Figure by Tsume
Another grail arrives! It was pleasantly surprising to see him drop on my doorstep a day earlier than estimated. He will be accompanying Sage Naruto on my empty shelf while Pain is scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks after the week surrounding Christmas and New Year's.

Sasuke was pre-ordered on July 10, 2013, which was a few days after the start of pre-orders. Being an actual player of Taka Sasuke on the Naruto Storm games, this figure was a must-have and I had been dying to own a rendition of Sasuke in his Taka garb. I paid a total of €59.04 (approx. $92.00 AUD at the time) for the single figure and UPS shipping. The order was made directly from the Tsume-Art website.

P.O. Opened early-July 2013
Originally announced as a Q4 2013 release, and made it just in time with their dispatch estimations. It was a surprise for this one not to get delayed in a similar pattern to the predecessor X-tras before Sasuke.

❂❂WARNING:❂❂ MILD SPOILERS BELOW

Sasuke Uchiha (うちはサスケ, Uchiha Sasuke) is one of the main characters and the deuteragonist of the Naruto series. He was a genin-level shinobi of Konohagakure's Team 7, but later defected from the village becoming a missing-nin, an affiliate of Akatsuki and is now considered an international criminal. He is also one of the three remaining Uchiha directly following the Uchiha clan massacre.

: Foam pieces to somewhat secure and protect the figure. I don't think enough was used though.

OUTER PACKAGING 7/10
The outer packaging boasts simplicity. The lack of a window display and the need to "tear open" the box to access the contents makes it akin to a number of prize figures or blister-packed figures. In terms of size and weight, it's extremely light but seeing as Tsume charges a flat rate of 20 Euro for UPS (in the case of Australia at least), the size and weight is somewhat irrelevant.

❂ Front:
The front features Sasuke taking a swordman's striking form in a poised manner. The lightning graphics, possibly a reference to the Chidori, surround Sasuke in a rotating shape. Sadly the figure didn't come with Chidori effect parts, something I would've loved to see applied on his Kusanagi Blade. Sasuke is the fifth X-tra announced by Tsume-Art.
ImagesClose Spoilerhttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2013/12/23/883983.jpeg

❂ Top:
The top utilises of a tear-off strip (I recommend not using it to open the box) and WAS SUPPOSED TO FEATURE the development team's personal signatures provided you have one of the 200 signed pieces. It is currently under question as to why Tsume forgot to sign their first-run figures.
ImagesClose Spoilerhttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2013/12/23/883998.jpeg

❂ Sides:
The sides are the same as Pain X-tra's box, with Naruto and Pain on each side to promote set-completion for collectors.

❂ Bottom:
Blank white. I recommend opening the figure from this end, however it takes some moderate tearing (that is some REALLY STRONG GLUE - AGAIN).

INNER PACKAGING 6/10
A limited-run figure of high value doesn't deserve to be packed like this. As with Sage Naruto, the inner packaging has no blister tray and uses a plastic casing/sleeve to house the components of the figure. The outer box itself was already quite thin to begin with, thus having little protection for the figure in shipment.

❂ Upon Opening Box:
Opening from the bottom initiates the impression of "Oh, I didn't order a prize figure". It looks awfully cramped in there.
ImagesClose Spoilerhttp://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2013/12/23/884000.jpeg

❂ Layout:
The plastic bag is separated into compartments for each individual piece of the figure.

SCULPT 8.5/10
I think the sculpt was well-executed, but one can't help but compare to the original art the figure was sculpted from.

❂ Akatsuki Cloak:
The Akatsuki cloak is the most iconic part of Sasuke's continuous defection into a primary antagonist as well as being symbolic of Taka with the hooded variant.

The cloak is sculpted as one piece with the entire upper-torso and connects to the lower-torso/legs. The cloak is sculpted dynamically, imitating the notion of wind passing through the figure. The creases on the sleeves are well done, especially where Sasuke grips his right sleeve. In the games, Sasuke sheathes his blade in the right sleeve as opposed to on his back.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2013/12/23/883994.jpeg

❂ Face and Head Sculpt:
The face is sculpted reasonably well to the Sasuke we all know. However, I feel as though his expression lacks the aggression portrayed in the original cell art. As well as this, his nose is sculpted very bluntly as opposed to a much sharper nose in his original anime/game renditions.

His hair is dynamically "posed" on its own, with the layers of spikes curving slightly upwards indicating that the "wind" passing through the figure comes from multiple directions (or he applied more anti-gravity gel in the morning, heck we'll never really know).

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2013/12/23/884004.jpeg

❂ Lower-body:
His "skirt" (I'll never know what it actually is) and purple rope are sculpted to a satisfactory level. I was originally thinking the rope lacked the texture of individual threads, making it look like purple noodles wrapping Sasuke's waist.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2013/12/23/884009.jpeg

❂ Kusanagi Blade:
As a short disclaimer - Voir le spoilerCacher le spoilerSasuke does not actually don the real Kusanagi Blade, but rather refers to it as such during the encounter in Orochimaru's Lair at the beginning of Shippuuden.

The blade was one of the most disappointing parts of the figure. Not only is it coloured incorrectly, but it was made of a very malleable PVC. While packed the blade was already bent. It is incredibly flimsy, so beware of easy breakages or loss.

The blade's hilt is equipped onto Sasuke's right hand (blade first through his palm, not hilt-first through his outward fist or it won't fit and you risk snapping the blade). The entire arm can be removed to equip it easier with less hassle. There is a small hole in the sword to indicate where the point of positioning on Sasuke's hand.

PAINTING 8/10
As with all Tsume products, they work with chalky textures to imitate cell-shaded graphics using solid colours for most of their figures.

❂ Akatsuki Cloak:
Solid black with a few inconsistencies. The transition from red to gray on Sasuke's collar was poorly applied as the gray overlapped the red. Glossy decals were used for the Akatsuki clouds stamped onto the cloak.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2013/12/23/884018.jpeg

❂ Skin:
His skin appears a bit yellowish under certain light conditions. His hands lack a matte coating and appear slightly shiny. His skin appears a bit more pinkish on his feet.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2013/12/23/884010.jpeg

❂ Face and Head:
Decals were used for Sasuke's facial expression and a small yellow painted line for his mouth. His hair contains a gradient of various blues. Some say his hair would have been better black, but personally I would have preferred a slightly darker blue similar to the Figuarts Zero Sasuke.

POSING 8/10
Other than the fact it's based off artwork, I can't say much else. I would have preferred an original pose from Tsume however.

BASE 9/10
Tsume-ArtAll our X-tra by Tsume figures have a sober and classy black base.

❂ Simple is best!
The base is the same size as Sage Naruto's and are both larger than Pain's. I would've thought Sasuke would fit on a smaller base, but this is fine nonetheless.

Underneath the base states SASUKE UCHIWA - possibly due to the French localization of the series. I believe "uchiwa" actually means "fan", in reference to the clan's fire techniques.

ENJOYMENT 9/10

❂ I'm still happy to own a Taka Sasuke!
Taka Sasuke is in fact one of my four grails (as of current) and I'm very happy to have him under possession. I expected flaws right from the beginning and I'm relieved to know most of the figure matches up to my satisfaction.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Just one more X-tra to go! Unless Tsume releases more then I'm totally keen for those too! But with 2014 being pretty hefty with Naruto figures, I guess I could go without for the sake of saving my shredded wallet.

Til' next time!

RaithosIl y a 6 ans#1904036Yeah? But Sage Mode is 100x more important than Sasuke's period spent in his Akatsuki cloak... lol. The meaning/significance are way more powerful with Sage Mode than Sasuke's little "romp with the enemy" so to speak. I think the piece is decent, don't get me wrong, but still. Just preference, I suppose.

Well of course :P
But aesthetically speaking it's a nice concept. Plus on Ultimate Ninja Storm 2's cover, Sage Naruto is seen fighting against an Akatsuki Cloaked Sasuke.

Just gimme a Bijuu Mode Naruto and I'm good to go! :D

MobiusXIl y a 6 ans#1904001I suppose, but then again Sage Naruto with his actual Sage Cloak was also very short-lived. Having both of them cloaked looks awesome to display against each other :)

Solid review as usual MX
I like this figure, although personally I think I'm rooting for the Sasuke GEM more. Only because the Akatsuki appearance was very short lived.
Still, for those that want a decent Sasuke Shippuuden figure, this is a definite possibility for the scale and price :D

I got mine today. I have to say I am very disappointed it wasn't signed. Not because I think the signatures are everything, but because they should have kept to their original claims. I suppose they were in such a hurry to send them out, they forgot *face -> palm*
I think his hair is a little too high for my liking, and the shoes/feet on mine were not painted the best, but overall I am very impressed with the figure itself. Viva la Tsume!

Yeah I was pretty bummed out not to get the signatures, especially since I went through the trouble of ordering Pain recently for the signatures to get a 3-signed set :L

I'm glad they wanted us to get them before Christmas, but I wouldn't have minded waiting to avoid the inevitable hassles that will come about with their customer service in declining their original claim.

His hair is alright. It does look a little poofy I admit, aha. For some reason my Sasuke's front foot isn't sinking entirely into the base's peg.

Aha, yes yes viva la Tsume~
