FromJapan proxy order for Surugaya (Loot/Review)FromJapan proxy order for Surugaya (Loot/Review)

I was browsing Surugaya's website randomly this month when I saw my holy grail plush available in new condition. I've used Surugaya's Rakuten shop once before during a free shipping promotion. As many users know, Surugaya-a-too is really bad at processing international orders in a timely manner. They charge EMS shipping but don't process and ship your order until 3 weeks later. But with the advice of many users, I learned that using a proxy is the best way to get at those rare goodies Surugaya has available. Their inventory of pre-owned is huge!

So I tried using a proxy for the first time and went with FromJapan because they have a solid history and large staff. The website was extremely easy to use and the commission system was pretty straight forward. They charge a maximum of 800yen for a total order from 1 shop. So I ordered a couple of more things I didn't really *need*... you know how that happens.. >_>

Within 2 hours of requesting--- I got a confirmation email that they successfully placed all my orders with Surugaya! That was at like 8am Japan time. My stuff was labeled as "out of stock" right afterwards on Surugaya's website. FromJapan's speed is great for people trying to get something before it's out of stock.

6 days later--- FromJapan notified me that all my stuff arrived at their warehouse. I chose to have them just ship immediately since I didn't have anything else to order.

2 days later--- FromJapan shipped the package out via EMS.

LESS than 2 days later--- My package was sitting at my doorstep. This was unbelievably fast, like holy cow! go Japanpost and USPS! (for once)

I was really confused when I received this box labeled "Delicious Apples Narimasu Farm". I feared that FromJapan put a box within a box since I only ordered from one shop and they could have just forwarded the original box.

It looks like they took out each item from the original shop's box and re-wrapped everything with bubble wrap, then re-boxed everything. I suspect this is to make sure every item is correct. Even though I never paid for the inspection fee (where they make sure your stuff isn't broken), I guess they still at least make sure your stuff is actually there. I don't think these bubble wrap came from Surugaya but are actually extra layers of protection provided by FromJapan. Anyone know?

I've been searching for this plush on eBay for yearsssss because I didn't know about MFC and Japanese pre-owned stores and Yahoo!Japan auctions etc. This is a low supply low demand plush. It was hard to find but cheap since it's such an old anime. Azumanga is still one of my fav anime. I'm so happy to find a newish looking Sakaki buruburu plush to match my vibrating Chiyo one :P

I decided to get this little plush too to match my FumoFumo Ran plush. Her little cat ears look adorable in plush form. Now I have 3 neko girl Gift plushies (including sonico's tiger hoodie plush) :3

Next is the 10yr anniversary Lucky Star Konata maid prize figure. The box art is really colorful and cheery.

Then I got this Figma of Cute from Queen's Blade to match my Figma Maron-Makaron from Queen's Gate. It was obviously pre-owned because the box was wrinkled and there was some dust on the figure. But all the parts are intact and easy to clean so it was a nice deal.

Here's the rest of the small stuff. A bunny Kagami mini figure to go with the fox Konata I have. A Konata IdolM@ster crossover figure. I was so surprised at how small this box was because it looks just like a nendo box from the picture! 2 Nichijou trading figures. I love their derp faces sooo much! An Azumanga trading figure of the cat and dog. And this Airou plush coin purse from I believe a UFO catcher. I've been casually searching for this coin purse for years ever since I saw it on a trip to Japan in 2009. At that time I didn't know much about hobby culture but saw this cute face in a claw machine on a tour through Akihabara. Wasted 200 yen and failed to get it. Thought about it ever since I got back to the US. Now I finally have a proxy souvenir from that trip? lol

I also got this Nichijou clear file and some Lucky Star stickers that were 60yen. Might as well throw it in with the shipping =P I'm really impressed how well Surugaya protected this with a card board backing, and how FromJapan wrapped it up another time with bubblewrap!

I actually had no idea what the stickers even looked like because Surugaya has crap small pictures. I'm so happy that they are not only the animal forms of all the girls but are also shiny!

My overall impression with FromJapan
PROS:
1. Easy to navigate the website and follow instructions for shop orders. For Surugaya I just pasted the weblink and it auto-populated the required info. (Haven't tried auctions but instructions seem simple)
2. Very speedy ordering process because I suppose they are a large company - great for items that might sell out fast.
3. Simple fees that are clearly broken down on the receipt. No hidden fees.
4. Although I didn't need to for the US, they will undervalue your package to whatever you want.

CONS:
1. Won't ship SAL on packages totalling more than 6000 yen. Had I known this earlier I would have ordered less or separated the order. EMS was super fast but unnecessary.

gamergibbons (Il y a 4 ans) #2177317hopefully I'll find a vender who has some legit Azumanga merch at their table!
Most of the plush I've seen at conventions are made by American companies. They are usually not as high quality =\ I've seen a number of Azumanga plush on Yahoo!Japan auctions though!

Take (Il y a 4 ans) #2177665I'm currently doing my first order with them too, so I'll ask them not to combine
Make sure you read about how to do separate orders. I'm not super sure myself but I just know they can't separate an order from the same store once you place it. You would have to actually order two times.

Toonpenguin (Il y a 4 ans) #2177738they set a limit of 6,000 yen is because that is how much is insured with SAL and i assume they don't want to deal with people overseas complaning they get ripped off 40 dollars because SAL didnt cover the full damages.
Yeah I imagine that's the reason but it's weird that they are willing to undervalue and even mark your package as a "gift" to avoid customs for you.

Moro (Il y a 4 ans) #2177999It seems it's safer to use Surugaya with a proxy, but I had such an atrocious experience the one time I ordered from them that I'm terrified to ever try buying from them again despite their great prices and assortment of old and rare items :<
If I'm not mistaken, I think I read about your Surugaya experience but it was with the Rakuten shop? Their English communication and international ordering still need to improve, but I really think proxy buying from them is painless. They have a low threshold for free domestic shipping so that reduces proxy costs right there.

chiechie (Il y a 4 ans) #2178002i have two pre-owned items from them: ITEM #87458 and ITEM #43900 hopefully they are in good condition ;o; i used proxyrabbit but fromjapan sounds like a good proxy to use too, i might use them next time
I feel like I'm always taking a little gamble with their pre-owned stuff because they don't provide specific pictures or descriptions. But I trust them to mention something if there are any parts actually *broken*. I think their prices are pretty accurate indicators of quality. I bought a pre-owned figma that was actually unopened, and another one that had some dust inside. One was 5000yen and the other was 2000yen. I wanted to use proxyrabbit because they are highly rated by MFC members, but I wasn't sure if they could order from Surugaya's website. I'll try them next time. You should post your loot when it arrives!

Nice loot! surugaya is the best for preowned stuff in my opinion , since they have such a large variety and you can find old items on the site as well!

Oh, it's very good to know about the 6000 yens max limit for SAL, I don't think it's written somewhere on their website. I'm currently doing my first order with them too, so I'll ask them not to combine. Thanks for the tip :D
