So, this post is SUPER late, considering Otakon was back in the beginning of August, but I promised a few people I’d make a loot post so here it is. Most of what I bought is just fan art, but I did pick up a couple nendos and small things because I got a few good deals. The con this time was a little ridiculous with prices. I know that sellers at conventions do bump up the prices of their figures, but I was a little overwhelmed. I saw things that were worth about $85 with a $200 price tag. First I’ll write about the loot and also a little about the con and the cosplay, which will be at the end, so you can skip that if you want.

Here’s a couple of the group shots:
I know I have the Haikyuu!! pos x pos collection box in this picture but I'll show them in my September loot post because I got them after the con, and I got some more so I have to take updated pictures.

I was a little bummed about Tsubasa's macaroon. The dealer only had a white one left, but since he's one of my favorites and because I wouldn't go out of my way to get it otherwise, I bought it. They also didn't have a Syo to go with my Masato, but I'm still happy I got him (:

I'll try to list the one's that I remember or who I've gotten a card from. If I forget or couldn't find any and someone else has found them, please let me know so I can update the list.

This was bought by a friend before the con, but she gave it to me when we got to the hotel so I figured I'd just throw it in here with everything else.

I forgot Armin in the group shot so he gets his own picture.

The above picture is because I have a question for anyone who might be able to help me out. My Cheerful Japan Len came with a broken face plate, and by broken I mean the joint. The right side is what his other face plates look like on the bottom. As you can see, instead of the small joint piece coming out of the left one, the entire piece came out and was broken. I thought I could just glue it back in and change the joint because there is an extra, but the problem is that I can't get the small joint piece out of it. Does anyone know if I can buy some extra pieces or if there is a way to somehow get that out of there? It would be a shame if I just had a wasted face plate.

In my last con post I didn't really write anything about the convention itself, so for a change I figured I would do that for this post. For those of you who don’t know, Otakon is a large annual anime convention on the East Coast, held in Baltimore, around the end of July/beginning of August. While this was only my second time going, I can say that my experience was a lot different than the previous year. Apparently there was a new system that they used for registering, which was a disaster. The preregistration line for Thursday (the day before the con opens) was wrapped around the entire building about 4 times and then again inside several times. I never made it inside before the line got cut off around 10-11PM. Everyone who didn’t get their badges was forced to leave and return again in the morning, where again the line was ridiculous but seemed to move a little faster. Last year, we went into the convention center on Thursday and were out in 5 minutes. Hopefully they will never use this system ever again to keep things more organized.

Thankfully the weather was pretty nice all weekend, even in my heavier cosplay’s (Ciel Phantomhive, for the most part) it was not bad at all. I met a few nice people and for the first time at a convention joined in on one of the photoshoots as a participant and in another to take photos. If any of you like to cosplay, please go to the photoshoots so you’re not missing out! It was a ton of fun! Other than that, I didn’t do much this time around. I didn't go to any panels because the lines were extremely long, but maybe next time.

I did get into a little argument with a vendor. He was extremely rude and was speaking to me like I had no idea what I was doing. And it wasn't like he was being friendly and trying to help me either. I don't remember exactly what the prices were, but I think he was trying to sell a Len nendo for either $52 or $42 and I asked him to go down to $50 or $40 because there was a dent in the box. Instead of just saying no he said something like "Well do you display the boxes? Because if you don't it doesn't matter." I was annoyed at that point and said that I do display the boxes and that it was only $2. Then I was talking to my friend, in private, about how I can go get it somewhere else online for cheaper and he interrupted the conversation and said "Yeah if you can find it. And then you have to pay for EMS so just forget it". I simply replied that I don't use EMS unless I have to, and I know for a fact I wouldn't have to in this case. He proceeded to tell me that he doesn't trust SAL and was just being a complete asshole. I said that I've always used SAL and never had a problem. He was pretty pissed about that so I just left and bought Len somewhere else. That was the first time I've had some sort of rude experience with a dealer. Has anyone else had an experience like that?

I have some pictures of a couple cosplays that I’d like to share! Please keep in mind that they’re phone photos so they’re not the best quality. If you happen to be in or know anyone in these photos let me know!

This one is of me and my friends. I was Ciel. I also dressed as Kagamine Len (Love Is War ver.) but I don't have any good pictures of it unfortunately.

This one is really blurry because he kept bouncing around but I thought it was the greatest, funniest thing.

This one really made my entire weekend because they were the only one's I saw. Zankyou no Terror quickly became one of my favorite shows and I thought these two pulled off Nine and Twelve pretty well.

I wrote a good amount, but thanks for listening (; ̄Д ̄)
I'll be back again really soon with a July/August/September loot post and a NY Miku Expo loot post/diary!

I love your loot >.< and I love your cosplay of Ciel. I love that Kaneki cosplayer. I just love a lot of things XD. Man that is a horrible experience you had with the vendor. LOL what's with that guy bouncing everywhere. I still need to finish that Zankyou anime though.

You really should if you can save some money, because it definitely is expensive but it's certainly worth it. I like to get custom made stuff or make it myself depending. For example, I didn't make Ciel's cosplay because it was way to advanced for me. But I made parts of my Len cosplay, and at Zenkaikon I made my Kanato and Junko cosplays. Custom made stuff is actually sometimes cheaper and made a lot nicer. I always go to RedStarCosplay on Etsy: www.etsy.com/pe... (it looks like their actual shop seems to be down right now though). And a lot of the time making it isn't always cheaper. Instead of making it from scratch though you can buy stuff, tear it apart and kind of work with it. Sometimes I don't like working from scratch, it's really frustrating. My one friend seems to do it though. I was actually just talking to her yesterday about cosplaying as Hajime! You should do it, it's a nice cheap one!

That's a good idea, thanks so much I'll try that! I was hoping to avoid contacting GSC because it's not like the whole faceplate is broken, it's just the piece thats stuck. But if I have to, I will. But I'm still going to try to get it out first. Thanks again!

Glad I could help out a little!
I guess some people are just really stingy about their prices. I also have a friend who is friends with a vendor. Her and her boyfriend sometimes go to conventions and help him out. They said it's a lot of work and is a completely different experience than when you're going for fun. Have you ever went to work with your friend? Yep there were a ton of sellers, I'm glad I found Len at another, much nicer one at that, vendor for a good deal!

Not a problem, they deserve as much attention as they can get. The works look beautiful. I also like to shop for doujin for the most part, because otherwise I might not buy it anywhere else.
YES! The Kenma cosplayer is the cutest thing I've ever seen. I had to get a couple pictures of her every time I ran into her because I'm creepy. She's adorable. The Haikyuu shoot was really fun too. Super energetic haha.
Thanks very much! I'll make sure to let them know you said that (^∇^)

I'm so glad someone on here knows what it is. When I saw him I was dying laughing. He started bouncing around on the ball, it was so perfect.

Thanks so much! I made sure to update the list. I bought another DMMD print from them last year too but I guess I didn't grab a card that time either (; ̄Д ̄)

Ah thank you (∩❛ڡ❛∩) I'll make sure to tell him you said that!
Aw that's a shame. There's always next year though! Maybe you can save up some money.

Thanks! Which Len keychain? The Taito one or the other one? The Taito one was $11 I think and the other one was $8 or $10, I can't really remember. I saw him at a few other stands where he was around the same price too though.

It is! Those skills are amazing. He also had HUGE posters too, and I mean about the same size or bigger than your average tapestry. I'm not a fan of One Piece but his One Piece art was gorgeous. Looked like it came straight out of the manga.

For the nendroid: Have you tried heating a needle and stucking it inside the broken neck joint to remove it from the other piece?
Or try contacting GSC and get a replacement for the faceplate if they still have it! If they can't help you there are groups which split nendroids or sell nendroids parts. :)

I really want to start cosplaying, but sadly it's rather expensive and I have no idea how to make my own stuff. Granted, I do want to try and do Hajime from DanganRonpa 2 since all I'd need is the wig and tie : 3

Thank you so much for introducing me to awesome artists <3 Really appreciate it!
Buying doujin stuffs from anime conventions is the main reason why I go to those cons lmao

And those cosplayers!! The Kenma cosplayer is sooo cute ngawww
and those Karasuno kids hahaaha
Your Ciel cosplay is really2 GOOD! Love the expression! same goes to your friends too!

I've never buy anything from anime cons' vendor, so I couldn't speak about any kind of experience with them, but sorry to hear about that :/

Haven't been to Otakon in a few years and going through withdrawal. This post made things a little better.

Wow, sorry to hear about the bad experience with the vendor! In years past, I've had pleasant dealings with them, but sounds like the one you were dealing with probably hadn't sold much up until then. My husband and I are friends with a vendor who had been at Otakon for a number of years, but decided to stop doing it because the booth fees went up substantially. The seller shouldn't have taken their frustration out on you though! Their loss, there are usually plenty of figure sellers there, anyway. :3
