1st FJ order (Berserk loot!)1st FJ order (Berserk loot!)

This morning I received a very large package from FromJapan! It was my first time ordering with them and I had a relatively pleasant experience using their proxy service. However, I think I'll use their service again only if I have extra funds to pay for all of their extra fees. Trust me, reader, using FromJapan is quite an expensive shopping experience, and I highly suggest reading reviews or blog posts about them before using their service. They have 2 separate charges of which the first is pretty much the amount you buy or win the item(s) for (including a 200 yen commission AND a 5% system usage fee) and then the second charge is the sum of ALL the extra fees (domestic shipping to the FJ warehouse, bank transfer fee, shipping fee). An excellent blog post regarding this can be found here BLOG #12992 .

I purchased 9 different items/listings using their service from a combination of Rakuten, Amazon.jp, and Y!J auctions and I was a little surprised with how much my second charge ended up being. It was over 130 USD! So if you ever order from FromJapan, please be aware of all the fees that come with your orders and expect to pay a little more than what you expect.

On to the main event!
The box was HUGE!

One of the largest I've ever received. Bigger than that Guts RAH box.

Upon opening the package, I found a combination of promotional material packed in clear plastic.http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/AnimeGuruma1445975091.jpeg

Promotional papers from the stores I ordered from, no doubt. I didn't expect FJ to include them in the package. What a nice touch!

Under a layer of bubble wrap and packing paper...

As a whole, the packaging was very good. I selected "regular packing" instead of a secure alternative packing (which would cost 2,000 yen extra) and I'm glad I chose the former. Everything was packed securely in bubble wrap.

The first part of the haul, for my brother: Nendoroid Hakase from Nichijou, and 4 different manga series by the mangaka Yoshihiro Takahashi, known for his many series focusing on dogs such as the long-running Ginga franchise (Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, Ginga Densetsu Weed, Ginga Densetsu Weed Orion, Ginga Densetsu Weed: the Last Wars). I haven't gotten too much into his works, but my brother's a die-hard fan! I was also delighted when he asked me to get the Nichijou nendoroids for him because it's his first time showing interest in figures and the like :) and what a better occasion than to use a proxy to find a nendoroid that's usually hard to find for a low price!

And the second part of the haul, for me...some Berserk!!

figma Guts Black Swordsman version, figma Guts Berserker armor version (both used), and Art of War's Casca Episode of Birth Feast statue (regular version). They were packaged very well too, with enough bubble wrap.

I was so happy to have found each figma on Rakuten both for ~$160, considering how expensive they are right now on Mandarake and on Jungle. I already have a copy of each, but I really wanted to get a second of each so I could swap parts, paint some white in his hair, and have a figma of Guts in his Berserker armor r.manga.life/h/...

I was the most excited for this beauty, though.

Ever since I got into Berserk, I kept an eye out for Art of War's statues. They are ridiculously expensive, with some retailing for multiple tens of thousands of JPY (so roughly multiple hundreds of US dollars)! Heck, the most recent Art of War Berserk statue ITEM #345810 retails for 110,000 JPY (almost a thousand US dollars)!!!!!!! I had heard that many of their statues are of hit-or-miss sculpt, especially the characters' heads, and so for such a price tag I decided to steer clear from Art of War statues. I did know, however, that their Casca Episode of Birth Feast statue was well-liked by AoW statue collectors because it had great sculpt. But I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend about 100 USD for it. So you can imagine my surprise when I found a Y!J listing for one for 3,500 JPY! I jumped on it the moment I laid my eyes on the listing.

Below are some photos!!

What a beautiful figure for $30 USD, right? The statue was listed as "used" and the listing description mentioned something about a "damage." I was initially worried that it meant that the statue had some damage considering the low price, but it turns out only the box has some wearing (or are the silver lines on the box meant to be there intentionally?), but the statue doesn't have any visible damage.

The one I received had a serial number of 430. I'm not exactly sure how many were produced, but I'm assuming in the thousands. A pretty simple statue, but I absolutely wanted a figure of Casca Voir le spoilerCacher le spoilerpost-eclipse. And I was very happy to have gotten a blue Behelit necklace along with the statue!

I was really happy to see that she's also in scale with my Art of War Schierke and Guts action figures! Lucky for me, I found both on eBay for pretty low prices, considering that the Guts figure is an exclusive that came with the limited edition "Branded box" bundle of the PS2 Berserk game "Berserk Millennium Falcon Arc: Chapter of the Holy Demon War" by Sammy Corporation. I've yet to purchase Isidro if I can find one for a low price, hehe.

Overall I was pleased with my first time using a Japanese proxy service and using FromJapan. While the whole order was more expensive than I thought it would be with all the extra fees, the money transfers were all very secure and I thought the whole buying process to be simple. I'll be sure to use their service again if I want to find a rare figure or order Japanese manga books.

The only thing i dont like is that FJ forces repackage fees on me. Did not ask for them to replace a box -_- and yes the fees can rlly get frustrating.. Just bought two pillows and im about to pay 5k total for 2 -_- insane.. I mean theyre inflatable shouldnt weigh much but according to them it is 1.44 kg o.O and im forced to pay now since it has already been packed..

Rest FJ is quite nice and i like your loot :)

I also use FJ for my purchases. Also, I learned the hard way how fees can accumulate quickly. To give you an idea on how much I had to pay on my first experience using them, I had these much items sent to me:

If I'm not mistaken, the total weight of the packages is approximately 30kg. With that, I had to pay about $250-300 just for shipping. Then, I got charged $150 for customs duties.

In short, I was very happy with the items I bought, but I was very shocked with the huge money I had to pay just to claim my happiness.
