Ita bag + Japan

akarinakarinIl y a 3 moisDiary
Hiyaa

Yes, yes another one of those ita bag blogs. Deal with it :P This has also been a work in progress, so I'm finally posting it today. A few months back, I posted about the first 'ita bag' I got, which wasn't really an ita bag since it was this lol...:
Voir le spoilerCacher le spoilerhttp://68.media.tumblr.com/44fcdf05ba8f02c60aa94db70fd44558/tumblr_osknsiXkgr1u3s3i7o1_1280.png

I honestly tried to stay away from these things, since I felt maybe it's a phase I'll get over eventually, but for the sake of displaying things I have no other way of doing so, I extensively researched the type of bag I'd actually like to use (eventually...somewhere idk where since I never go to cons...). Plus, I've seen many on here and they look nice, so why not :P Essentially, it just had to be a bag I found cute and this is what I opted for:

https://68.media.tumblr.com/7a3be77a8a7c865a19a30c910333d868/tumblr_oussg9DrKY1u3s3i7o2_1280.jpg

I never thought I’d do this eeeever, but we all fall into trends some way or another right.

If ya wanna know the story to get this bag, it was a pain in the ass to find it online since it's out of print everywhere. I want to point out that if you search these on google and happen to encounter this storenvy or tictail (I'm sorry I forgot what it was called, but I think they're from Canada) that has listings for them and many different ones, don't buy them. I sent a message a long time ago to the seller on tumblr and they never responded, which means they're probably not actively selling anymore. After searching in mercari and otamart alot, I found it in mercari. A big thanks again to @celestial-kitten for joining me on this split, since there were 2 bags in the listing, so we each got one :)

This type of bag is super adorable and I recommend ya’ll ita bag enthusiasts to get them if you can :D These bags are smaller than they look, but quite heavy due to the plastic. And due to the smallness, I was unfortunately very limited to space. I thought I was upgrading, but I didn’t too much lol.

I also wanna point out what a damn struggle it is to make one of these things, because although online shopping eases this hobby, it's still hard to buy most of these things, especially if the franchise isn’t somewhat popular in your country. So I struggled getting some things, forcing me to use proxies, forcing me to stalk second hand shops online and forcing me to wait months for these things to arrive. I’m pretty sure the bag that took me months to make, could have been done within a week for anyone else, which kinda bums me out, but whatever -_-

So here are the items I’m working with:
https://68.media.tumblr.com/821b9b9348a5e557170d616294a8d8ab/tumblr_oussg9DrKY1u3s3i7o1_1280.jpg

His name is Itsuki Shu. I really like this character alot. He's a ray of sunshine to me, even though he isn't at first sight lol. He’s from the mobile game Ensemble Stars!, which is the main source of my bankruptcy by the way. But I’m happy to say that the thrifty shopper in me managed to get these goods at cheap prices lol

The biggest problem for me was that I didn’t have the heart to puncture this bag lol, especially since they’re kinda hard to get online now. I really wanted to put pins but didn’t want to make holes on the bag’s inner fabric, so I tried thinking of ways to avoid that, but it’s quite difficult if I don’t have the supplies to try, so I gooooogleeeeed.

After going through countless Japanese yahoo answers lmao, here’s what I found:

1. Magnets – the person who offered this solution didn’t expand on how to use the magnets, but I’m assuming you put adhesive tape behind the magnet and stick it on the fabric and then the can badge sticks to the magnet, probably.

2. Clear Double-sided Adhesive Tape debunked since I'm sure this will eventually leave an annoying residue.

3. Cellophane Tape aka clear tape (which I immediately debunked since I know this is not strong enough for a 2 inch badge, but probably a smaller size. And also I imagine it would leave some annoying residue after some time)

4. A chain – I’ve seen this one commonly used for straps, but the person said to attach a chain from a necklace across the bag and attach the badge to a hole in the chain. My problem with this idea is that the badges will probably flop over, and not stay still in place, and I also don't like it aesthetically, so I debunked this idea too.

5. Customized chains made of fabric - I totally loveeed what this person did: minne.com/items... super creative and was one of the main options I wanted to try

6. Lanyard – this blogger: ameblo.jp/otome... shows how to put badges on lanyards, and using this idea I thought it’d be a good option as well to use in my bag

7. I saw this one in the MFC forums actually, using cardboard and a fabric on it and puncture that instead. This sounds like a great idea but I'm so lazy to shop for fabric that'll match at this point and trying and struggling to keep the cardboard in place would probably anger me at some point too lmao. I can see taping the back of the cardboard to the bag and then put everything on top, but I feel like the heaviness would probably make it flop over. So I decided to avoid this option sadly D: I might try it in the future though.

But in the end I did my own mess and used this:

https://68.media.tumblr.com/205b0604c8cbc938bc322282f91940e3/tumblr_oussg9DrKY1u3s3i7o4_1280.jpg

https://68.media.tumblr.com/74cfbf988cdf0067e8ce18572b8bde38/tumblr_oussg9DrKY1u3s3i7o5_1280.jpg

I got some furry faux fur with movable inner wire.

So at first I was planning to just cut the fur along the inside of the bag and place the pins on it. But I figured that was a bad idea since that didn't leave me options for the middle of the bag--it'd be empty. So I ended up using everything by twisting it all in a circle and filling the entire bag inside. Then I put everything :D

Am I satisfied with how it turned out? I don’t know lol. The bag is completely furry now lol I suck at these things and I still feel empty on the inside u_u Since I have no where to use this nor do I think I ever would lol so yeah it was kind of a waste, but I’ll have it done and ready in case I ever do in 3849038 years. Buuuut, I like to see my fav boy looking nice and pretty inside a fluffy bunny. Although it burns me because of a specific card I couldn't get a while back:

And now I'll officially be taking a break from the hobby for a while and MFC! I'll be going to Japan this Fall for a school semester. This is changing the topic and goes on with useless babbling, so I'll put it under a spoiler! please ignore if you don't wanna keep on reading my babbles D;
Voir le spoilerCacher le spoilerMay be weird for other collectors on here, but I made a personal vow that I'm not going to splurge on any anime/manga things unless it's a definite exclusive that I'll regret passing on lol. I don't plan to get the JR Pass since it's expensive and not needed since I only want to go to a few places in Tokyo during a free weekend, so I find the Tokyo Subway Ticket a much better option for me, since it's 800 JPY for unlimited rides for 1 day, 1200 JPY for 2 days, and 1500 JPY for 3 days. Does anyone recommend a better option though? I don't plan to go to many places, probably only Harajuku, Akihabara, Shibuya and Ikebukuro. If any one knows of any places that carry authentic, traditional items and vintage items (vintage manga too! from 1950s-80s), I would love to know. Flea market recommendations are a must too! It's very appreciated :D I probably won't eat much, but if there's a place I just have to go to that you recommend, please let me know as well. I love sweets and noodles. No exotic food and no raw food though (no sushi and no pork). It can be in the Tokyo area and I'll add it to my crappy plans lol. I've been looking thru here www.tokyometro.... but any other spots ya'll recommend is appreciated :D

I really wanna go to Tezuka museum though! (I love Black Jack;;;;) but that's...not in Tokyo ;_; so I gotta plan how to get there affordably. I must go there o___o Has anyone gone there and have any advice?

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Thanks for reading!

P.S. do you think I should take my ita bag with me lmao why did I ask this

UnhappyThief (Il y a 3 mois) #24771752Ya, I actually have a couple of times during my last trip.
The newer stuff are so overpriced there, although, if you're into the retro shit, nakano is the place to be @. (so many magical wands from the 90s, I die. I kinda regret not getting any cause the prices seemed unreal, but now checking online the prices are way higher)

Oh I see. Thanks sm for sharing this info. I hardly buy from Nakano online, so I'm not too familiar with their usual prices. I've only ever bought a vintage artbook once that is sold out everywhere and they sold it for 5k while Sahra had sold it for 2k (and the yen was so strong at the time so I paid yen to dollar exactly /ouch). I think they sell alot of idol merchandise too, and that one is actually somewhat sold at decent prices. But magical wands like from sailor moon? :o I thought only certain ones were really expensive o_o

CrowMaiden (Il y a 3 mois) #24783133Your bag turned out super cute, you should totally display it in your room! And I totally understand your decision to not splurge on things, I've been limiting my spending too.
I hope you have lots of fun in Japan, I don't have any tips but if you really want some I can always ask my sis, she went a couple years back. Hope it's awesome!!

Thank you! :) Yeah I realize if one wants to splurge on these type of things, they can pretty much just buy it online later on.
Thank you! That'd be really nice ;_; Would flights be better for going to Tezuka museum? If it's not too much to ask, what airline would your sister recommend? I really appreciate your help, thank you :)

Eichi (Il y a 3 mois) #24783510Ahh your dedication to Shu is amazing! The ita bag turned out adorable~ I hope you have fun in Japan!

AstoriaMercury (Il y a 3 mois) #24758432Take your itabag if you're planning on going to a major convention or event! Otherwise, it's not worth having the bag be bumped and potentially damaged when there's no one around to appreciate it :)
You're so right! I'll see if there are any cons. Thanks!! :D

tachola (Il y a 3 mois) #24758865sooo pretty and cute!! ;w;
Thank you!!!! :)

vvolt (Il y a 3 mois) #24759567Oh cool, I have the same Itabag and know the struggles of getting it LOL, anyways it looks so cute! I love how you used faux fur to back it, it gives it extra cuteness!! And good luck in Japan~
They're so cute though right?! I kick myself for not knowing they were on a closeout sale last year for so cheap ;_; I thought I overdid it haha. Thank you!!! :)

noctisity (Il y a 3 mois) #24760678The end result is so adorable! You could always just hang it on your wall as a fancy display if you have the space?
I don't have any advice for your questions about Japan unfortunately but I hope you have a bunch of fun there and manage to go to the museum!

aaah thank you!! ;A; That's true. I didn't really think about putting it up for display. Thank you so much for the advice and well wishes! :)<3

UnhappyThief (Il y a 3 mois) #24761490Waah the bag looks gr8, you've done a gr8 job! (the soft aesthetic makes me soft inside)
Btw r u planning to visit nakano broadway?

AkibaMelon (Il y a 3 mois) #24763444Such a cutie bag <333 I love the color scheme and overall fluff :D
Regarding your Tokyo questions: I wouldn't neccessarily advice the Tokyo Subway Ticket unless you know you'll be using the Tokyo Metro and Toei subway lines a lot. When I stayed in Japan I used a lot of JR (especially if you wanna go to Akiba) but the Tokyo Subway Ticket can't be used for JR lines. If you know where you'll be staying and what kind of train you'll use predominantly I'd suggest a simple Pasmo or Suica card ^^
Have fun in Japan and remember to take your ita bag #^_^#

Thank you! :D & thank you so much for explaining alternatives for the train. I'll try to research a bit more on the exact places I plan to check out and see what pass will be best.

solluxcaptor (Il y a 3 mois) #24763975Cute bag, I love all of the fur!! It looks really pretty but I know what you mean about not really having anywhere special to take it ;;; You could try just hanging it up as a cute little display item! :D
When I went to Japan I didn't buy any kind of special ticket or pass, I just paid for each trip on the train individually and honestly if you are just travelling around Tokyo it is amazingly cheap + easy to do + fast on the machines. I wouldn't worry about it at all!
If you are looking for vintage items then try checking out Nakano Broadway (which I missed myself ;-; but I heard it's really good for that) and I saw some vintage stuff in the bottom and upper floor of Mandarake in Akihabara. If you are looking for flea markets, there is a market in Akihabara every Sunday.
I saw LOTS of people with ita bags while I was in Japan so I would say why not bring it! Especially in Ikebukuro they were very common :D

Thank you! :) and yeah I just might do that and display it xD sucks not to be able to take it around as one pleases though haha.

Oh I see! Thanks for sharing your experience :D I'm gonna have to see if I'll be capable of buying a pass every time xD (i'm so dumb lmao)

Ah thank you for the recommendations! I'll have to check out Nakano for sure then *_* and the other places you mentioned! Thank you sm again! That puts me at ease, still can't help but feel awkward though xD

Lehst (Il y a 3 mois) #24765531OH MY GOSH THAT LOOKS AMAZING! o(*゚▽゚*)o
and you say you aren't sure you like it? how could anyone not totally love what you did here? that is such a creative and wonderful idea! <3
I really adore your bag, I think it looks better all fluffy !!! Even if you don't use it, it's fun to find ways to arrange straps and charms. Some bags and purses I just want because they are cute lol, do we really need to use them? but hey if you get the chance just take it out sometime! I live in a backwater place but I still wear my silly pink bunny hat with a few badges on it lol no one cares and it makes me really happy! ^^
I really love your bag, have fun with it! :D

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ; A ; <3

I agree, we're always weak for cute things regardless we use them or not haha xD You're right!!! I should use it whenever I want if it makes me happy... (need to work up the courage tho lol) YOUR PINK BUNNY HAT SOUNDS ADORABLE BY THE WAY!! ; v ;

Thanks so much again<3
