Got a new figure in finally! Not much coming out in terms of new figures I really want, so this might be my last review until next year (unless I get something else between now and then). So onto the review! ^__^

From the "Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! / Kono Suba" anime, this is Nendoroid Darkness / Dustiness Ford Lalatina (with bonus):

Each photo can be clicked on to give a full-size view of the image, even if the image itself doesn't display.

Here's her in the box:

As #758 in the Nendoroid figure series, Darkness / Dustiness Ford Lalatina (henceforth just called Darkness) is the latest in the ever-growing and increasingly popular Nendoroid figure series! She is far behind her friends from the series; Aqua, who was #630; and Megumin, who was number #725!

Like all Nendoroids, Darkness comes in the new standardized box. She's got most of her parts displayed in the window as well as the figure itself. It also has all of the normal information on it, like the series logo (in the top left corner), Good Smile Company (GSC)'s logo (top right corner), and of course the figure's name, number and image on the bottom.

There is also a GSC bonus with this release; which I will cover in more detail at the end of the review.

Back of the box:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562980.jpeg

Darkness is one of the main heroines/girls in the anime, "Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o!"; which is often abbreviated as "Kono Suba".

Just like the front of the box, the back has all of the usual information, logos and images that have become standard to Nendoroid figures recently. The background for Darkness's box is yellow with red and orange circles around the images; perfect to contrast against her color scheme (hair and clothes).

She comes with a decent number of parts; so most of her poses and accessories are shown here on the back of the box (or on the sides).

Instructions:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562893.jpeg

Keeping up the standard (as it is now) of Figma and Nendoroid figures; Darkness's instructions are in both English and Japanese. The English is on one side, and the Japanese is on the other. It is the same on both sides, otherwise.

The instructions show all of her parts, including the standard how to change the face parts directions and how to brace the figure on the stand directions.

There are a few special parts with Darkness that are featured in the instructions, which are her shoulder pads, arms and sword.

Parts:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562970.jpeg

Darkness comes with a good number of parts; both for her body and accessories. Here's the list:

Voir le spoilerCacher le spoiler-- Darkness herself
-- Standard Nendoroid base with stand
-- Extra joint part
-- 2 alternate arms to go across the chest (bent elbows)
-- 1 alternate closed fist
-- 2 alternate faces
-- 2 swords (short and long)
-- Alternate chest with 2 arms
-- 2 Flying Cabbage Monsters
-- 2 base stands for Flying Cabbage Monsters
-- Instructions

Also there is one more part, but it's not included in the plastic inner core. Instead this one is actually only available if you ordered the figure directly from Good Smile Company (during the pre-order period). This extra part will be covered in more detail at the end of the review.

Out of the box:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562966.jpeg

Darkness comes ready to go out of the box once her protective plastic pieces have been taken off. She comes with her normal expression in place as well as extended arms. She is also wearing her knight outfit she always wears in the anime.

The most interesting aspect of Darkness is her arms: They have joints at the elbows! This is the first time I've personally seen this on a Nendoroid, as they used to just include alternate arms in different configurations for different poses, instead of having a joint. I'm not sure when this started, but it wasn't on Megumin; so it had to be fairly recent.

As with all Nendoroids; the arms, hands, and legs are interchangeable and very easy to swap out with other arms, hands and legs. The same holds true for the face and the base as well.

With Sword:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562956.jpeg

Darkness only comes with a few accessories and alternate parts, starting with two different swords. The swords are identical except for length, with one being shorter than the other.

The longer sword is the one she holds on it's own, inside of her closed fist hand accessory. The sword simply pushes into the hole in the hand and is held firmly.

Sword resting pose:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562950.jpeg

The other sword is the short sword, which is the one she holds in front of her, pointed into the ground. This pose only works with the short sword, as the other sword is too long for the pose; even when putting the sword's tip into a hole on the Nendoroid base.

Battle damaged armor/alternate face and arms:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562943.jpeg

The next main accessory with Darkness is actually made of a few pieces: Her upper torso and 2 arms. Each arm has a groove in it to allow it to go around her breasts (which is why it's different from the jointed arms; which don't have this groove).

The upper torso is based off of her look from when she's taken damage in the anime; usually to her pleasure. However the face that works best with this pose is a somewhat embarrassed face; one she usually uses around Kazuma.

The arms on the upper torso can be swapped out for other arms, but don't have the stems sticking out of them for her shoulder armor (that has to be put on with each arm change).

Flying Cabbage Monsters:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562926.jpeg

As seen the anime, Darkness comes with two of the numerous flying cabbage monsters to accompany her. Each one has a different expression; one with open eyes and one with closed eyes similar to expressing joy.

Each cabbage comes with a stand, made of 2 pieces: A base and a stem. There is a joint in the base as well as 2 ball-joints, so the cabbage can be at virtually any height that is within the reaches of the base.

Alternate face:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562933.jpeg

Darkness can be posed together with the cabbage monsters in a couple of ways; easiest of them being with them flying around her. She can be seen with her last face in this case; an expression of joy/pleasure.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562921.jpeg

Alternately she can hold the cabbage monster in her hands as well, by bending her arms to be in front of her and resting it on her open hands. She can only hold one at a time, though.

Good Smile Company Bonus:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562984.jpeg

As mentioned previously; the last item to talk about is the Good Smile Company bonus that comes with Darkness! It comes in a sealed black bag; similar to previous GSC exclusive bonuses in the past.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562916.jpeg

Taken out of the bag; it's easy to see what it is: A special base! This base resembles the Kono Suba logo, but has alternate text on it instead of "Kono Suba". It comes first in some bubble wrap, then in a small plastic bag; which is taped shut.

Taking it out of the bag shows where the peg hole is for the base. This extra base is just a base though; it doesn't come with an extra stand for her...so the original base's stand has to be used with this base.

Compared to the other 2 GSC Bases:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509563074.jpeg

Comparing it to the other two Good Smile Company exclusive bases that came with Nendoroid Aqua and Nendoroid Megumin, it's easy to see how each one has a unique design to it!

Each base says something different (from left to right):

- Darkness's base says, "Retire" (as in they retired from a quest)
- Megumin's base says, "Request Completed!" (as in they finished a quest)
- Aqua's base says, "Kono Suba" (as in the nickname of the series, of course)

GSC Base; in use:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562910.jpeg

It's a nice bonus accessory; giving her something to make her a bit different from other Nendoroids (as all Nendoroids come with the standard base).

With Aqua and Megumin:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509563066.jpeg

Putting the three Kono Suba girls together really makes for a nice set so far. The three main girls almost complete the set of main characters; with only Kazuma missing now (if they make a Nendoroid of him).

Overall:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1509562901.jpeg

Just like all Nendoroids, Darkness is another really a great example of the kind of quality, detail and complexity expected from Good Smile Company with their Nendoroid figures. Very cute and accurate to the anime, she's really nice! Great accessories and posing options; she is quite fun!

The best aspect of the figure is the jointed elbows. While they do tend to fall apart when trying to change out the hands/accessories, they do work pretty well for different poses with her without having to always change out the arms.

The figure doesn't have a lot of accessories...something that kind of shows when doing this review, for me. A sadistic/overjoyed face would have made a good alternate accessory...although there isn't much else Darkness could have had. The GSC base could have included a stand of it's own too; but that's a minor issue. Also not really sure why they needed to give her two swords...she only has one hand that can hold a sword, so it seems odd to have two identical swords of different lengths.

Probably the biggest issue for me is that they called her by her full "official" name on the website here, instead of by her more commonly used name of Darkness (as it is on the box). It made it difficult when trying to find the figure on the site here...GSC got it right by putting it as the name of the figure on the box.

But overall this is nice figure! Worth picking up; with or without the GSC bonus; especially to complete the trio of KonoSuba girls. Ironically the next one is Yunyun...I just hope they make one for Wiz!

Recommended for everyone. Lots of play value and display value with a bunch of options.

Thanks for looking! Feel free to comment and I hope you enjoy the review! Be sure to check out the other reviews here: profiles.php?us...

MetalSamamonIl y a 2 ans#28054383Nice photo! You used some other Nendoroids for that! Very creative! ^^
Oh, that makes sense now, with the "Retire" base. I understand now; I corrected the review to reflect this as well.
Thank you for your help with that, SageGuy! ^^

You are welcome, and thank you.

SageGuyIl y a 2 ans#28029841Nice review, mine just arrived a few days ago and she is great. Now that the trio is complete, I took this picture for Halloween PICTURE #1856426. Hopefully they will announce Kazuma some time soon.
And about her special base, I believe the retire means that they retired or gave up on the quest. I've seen something similar done in games before, and the konosuba world does seem to have certain game like elements to it.
