AmiAmi Pre-owned Purchase "review"AmiAmi Pre-owned Purchase "review"

AmiAmi as of late, has been selling some really nice pre-owned goods. It used to be just some prize figures or something simple. However due to the influx of a greater variety of pre-owned figures, people have been wondering what do they really mean by (Pre-owned Body:??Box:??)?

So I decided to take some pictures of my recent (Pre-owned Body:BBox:B) purchase of Momohime, hopefully to show you how they grade them.

The box was graded B due to the fact that there was a small tear at the top and some slight folds.

This is where it gets interesting. The body was graded B due to the fact that there was a small dirt/scruff at the face, but as you can see in the pictures above it can't be seen except if you stare at it at a close range. All the joints were tight and not loose as well.

Will AmiAmi pre-owned section replace Mandarake? In my opinon, no. However AmiAmi does seem to able to get more stock of rare/out of print figures compared to Mandarake. Also you have the usual wide variety of shipping options with AmiAmi compared to Mandarake.

I hope this answers some questions people might have about AmiAmi's preowned goods!

So far I can say both AmiAmi and have their own pro and cons when it comes to grading their pre-owned stuff they're selling. The good thing about Mandarake is they descriptively specify the apparent flaws of the item such as yellowed packaging, missing parts, paint smudges, non-working electronic gimmicks, etc either on the item name or the description section. The bad thing about that is they don't usually do that on every item they sell. AmiAmi on the other hand fully relies on the two grades/rates system rather than doing something like Mandarake so you pretty much have to gamble and assuming yourself what are the possible flaws you may get based on the ratings only. (I did see them stating down about the figure missing an alternate part at least once though.)

I've just recently bought a Figma Asakura Ryouko which was in B:B condition and while the box didn't really appear to be that bad to be graded as B, the stuff inside was almost close to enter the beginning level of atrocity; I can certainly excuse the paint "scratch" on her left cheek but the screws used on the stand are so rusty that you can hardly see drive lines. I bet if I drive in a screw driver into their heads, they will instantly crumble or vaporize into bronze dust.. For certain reason, those rusts alone (and the fact that this item is rated as B) makes me dread of ordering a C-graded figure from AmiAmi.

JunAres (Il y a 6 ans) #1167737See, my only issue with Mandarake is how hard it is to search for stuff because of how either garbled the English is (if you use a website translator) or it's Japanese. AmiAmi had a much cleaner layout that makes it easier to look, but I presume Mandarake ultimately has a better price if you can find stuff.

I've order off both sites (well, I got a new item from AmiAmi, not pre-owned) and had no problems though, so I presume both are good.

Any tips for finding stuff on Mandarake, by the way?

Search for the item on Mandarake's english site with the kanji of the item. For example, I want to look for some K-ON! figures, I would search けいおん!rather than K-ON!/KEI-ON!. You are bound to get more hits searching this way. If you don't get any hits, there could be no stock left which you can check by clicking "show all including sold out items".

Hope this helps you out.

I found both the strength figma (Box:A Body:A) for 40 bucks, AND the Masane Amaha Bikini Tan version from orchid seed (Box:A Body:A) for 170 bucks! That figure's on ebay and amazon for over 350! Definitely will be getting my preowned's from AmiAmi from here on. Plus being able to ship them with pre-orders is horribly convenient.

FAbian101 (Il y a 6 ans) #1080172From what I have seen, roughly 4-6AM UK time (Mine is 11PM-1AM EST). Though it depends on the day as well, but I doubt you will be seeing any updates soon as they are going to have a short holiday (obon week).
Thanks so much ^^

laurenk418 (Il y a 6 ans) #1080147converted into UK time, what time does amiami usually update their pre-owned section?
I'm stalking it daily because i've got a feeling alice will show up on it soon *-*
and it she does, I'm going to have to snag her. Fast.

I'm waiting for ITEM #182 from AmiAmi. Still wondering how 5 year old uses figures turn out to be.

Thanks for the review, nice to have another option. Even if AmiAmi never becomes as good as Mandarake, having another option is always a good thing. You can not only compare prices and figure condition from one to the other, but also if one doesn't have an item in stock the other might.

Glad people are having success with AmiAmi pre-owned goods. :)
