Update on Griffon Enterprises/Grand Toys (Possible Bankruptcy)Update on Griffon Enterprises/Grand Toys (Possible Bankruptcy)

A follow up of: BLOG #39250

Unsure what to put this category as, but this is basically a summed up version of my last few weeks of research concerning Griffon/Grand Toys.

I began with looking on their websites for contact information, I've contacted every email on there with no replies, I gave it a week or two. I also didn't receive confirmation of my email, which you usually do if you email somewhere with an inquiry. But I also didn't receive a "This email is out of service" or have it bounce back. I've written it both in Japanese and English, so no excuses on being unable to understand me. I’ve tried 5 different contact emails with no answer.

Then I began searching on every single website that is connected to Griffon, including their fossil site, their figuotto site, grand toys, etc.

Grand Toys --> For Sale, dead end.
Fossil Site/ArtCore --> Still up, but no dates, so I'm not sure when it was last updated, I emailed them today under my company email, so maybe they would think I'm interested in distributing.
Figuotto --> Line is dead, so is the website (also $1600 for it? ew)
RLine --> Dead as well

I tried looking up "TEAM GENESIS" but their only contact page was on Griffon's website. I can't access Twitter on my main computer, so those were dead ends.

I ended up reading reviews of the jobs, I got a rough translation on one of them: "When I joined the company, the inside of the company was destroyed by stinkiness and things were scattered. Also, I felt very wonderful that there were not anything that would normally be a company, no documents. I learned the reason after joining the company. Leaving the president, it seems that all the employees quit at once and founded another company. Moreover, I abandoned all the documents and data of the company, vandalized the room and went out. It seems that the company had grown quite a while when there were those who quit, but The current situation is unknown." however this is from 2013, so not so reliable.

I got onto linked in, found a guy who says he's the overseas director, so I plan on making an account to contact him today.

I also wanted to call their phone lines, but I don't speak Japanese well enough if I get an answer (which I don't think I would...)

A few other people have posted (on JP forums) that Griffon renewed their website in December, but they've been gone since, or people began noticing Grand Toys was down in January (blog.livedoor.j...)

I began looking to see if they had any new job listings, and none since 2013, which isn't unusual, but still irritating.

I'm not very good with copyrights or trademarks (as in looking them up) but I didn't see Griffon Enterprises registered.

They haven't shown up at any festivals since December 2017. All their links seem to end up at a dead end... I've asked AmiAmi who say they're still in business, but I have no proof of that. All their release dates keep getting pushed back further and further.

I'm just amazed that Griffon hasn't said anything to anyone who has supported them over the years. Their twitter and FB accounts are dead, being dead since December. While I am almost positive they're going out of business, and Nippon-Yasan has cancelled Griffon's figures stating "the manufacturer refuses to release the figure." it's exhausting to know that they have all these preorders, but refuse to either declare bankruptcy, or admit they do not intend to follow up on these preorders.

If I remember or find anything else, I'll either edit this or do a new article another day.

UPDATE 1: Their Yahoo Auctions account has been suspended...
auctions.yahoo....

UPDATE 2: www.shopmaker.j... when trying to log into their website, it says "The account is not valid." You also can't make a new account in order to buy things...

UPDATE 3: Their diary/news has been deleted, every entry as far as I can see. All their others haven't been updated since 2013...
www.griffon.co....

UPDATE 4: My last two emails have gone unnoticed. Someone sent me a lead and I will try and follow up on it ASAP. Emails to fossil-corp came back to me with an error saying it's not available anymore.

Edit: On the side are links to some of the Griffon figures with the struggle of what's been going on.

Some of their figs were really decent, especially that kirino there.. really want her so many regrets i didnt buy her.

While I dont my like most of their figs I still feel sad that they got bankrupt. There are ppl who love their figs and while quality wasnt superb, thry did do the lesser known characters a lot and that I appreciate. Im still happy with my mio isurugi ^^ cause of this. Only fig out there aside from 2 prize-like figs

I never got a figure from Griffon, and was hoping this would be my first, but looks like aren't around anymore, rip.

Necroid_Neko (Il y a 8 jours) #37250418Does anyone know a way to contact Team Genesis? They had the prototype of ITEM #180754, so I want to know if they'll be able to release her via garage kit. I'm really desperate to get hold of her, but it looks like Griffon's truly dead this time

No, their only contact was through Griffon, you can try on Twitter but idk if the members names were ever released.

MillyParis (Il y a 8 jours) #37247348I'm very sad about Griffon's lack of response towards their customers and distributors (btw, my other two emails yesterday got ignored.)
Seriously, thank you for the response. I was expecting a lot of people to say "fuck Griffon idc" but everyone's been so kind.

They disappeared in the blink of an eye after announcing countless projects. Something happened quickly which was probably due to a failure of an element that brought them back temporarily on the market for a short period of time.

I think the frustration with Griffon is mainly a thing of the past. Frustrated customers are now somewhere else and the only remaining people interested in their whereabouts are individuals that were/are still interested in a few of their new offerings.

I'm sad to hear that griffon seems like it is dead or dying...I loved their Rozen Maiden line.Clozdark (Il y a 8 jours) #37230129I will missing out those never come figureschunnin33 (Il y a 8 jours) #37238099Because of all this going on it will now cost me an extra $120 minimum when I eventually buy it thanks to new taxation >_>sailormatlac (Il y a 8 jours) #37247013Thanks for the follow up. Griffon's disappearance after a short and mysterious return always puzzled me. The extent of abandoned accounts, websites, communication channels and no participation to industry events are indeed indicating this company is now an empty shell.
I wouldn't be surprised it's the case. The world or railroads (particularly in North America) is full of "defunct" companies still alive on paper, including many that didn't provide any service or have no employee since the late 19th century. These business structures were far too complicated to bother terminating them due to legal procedures so they live up to this day, hidden behind larger corporate entities. They do no harm, cost nothing to keep alive and can be useful from time to time when ones need an entity for tax credits and other such things.
My only complain would be that Griffon should have notified its distributors and retailers the projects were officially terminated. I'm wondering how long AmiAmi will keep pushing fake release dates! I can foresee them doing that well into the 2020s at this rate! ;-)
That said, as much as I had a love/hate relation with that company, I wish their designs could have been transferred to another company...

Thank you everyone for your kind words. If anyone has other leads, I will gladly try and follow them.
