Anime Expo 2018 After Report!Anime Expo 2018 After Report!

Today I’ll be sharing a long-overdue update from this year’s Anime Expo in LA.

The event took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from 7/5-7/8, after which the Kotobukiya team travelled to San Diego for SDCC 7/18-7/22, followed by Wonder Festival in Tokyo on 7/29, so as you can imagine it’s been pretty hectic around here!

Today’s article will cover Anime Expo but you can look forward to updates on SDCC and Wonder Festival coming soon!

Anyways, let’s get down to business.

As you can see, the theme for this year’s booth was Persona 5!

The sculpt ARTFX J Goro Akechi Phantom Thief ver. was on display for the first time. We also announced a new statue of the Hero and Morgana from Persona 5 Dancing Star Night.

The event-exclusive Hero and Goro Akechi School Uniform ver. Pitanui both sold out on the first day of the event.

On Friday we held a Persona 5 cosplay meetup. Thanks to everyone who showed up!

Here’s some shots of our other display cases:

The IKEMEN line is expanding! Here’s Nightwing, Red Hood, and Red Robin. If you’re not familiar with the IKEMEN series, it’s a counterpart to our BISHOUJO series. You can see more on the IKEMEN webpage here:

ARTFX J Taikobo, Yozen, and Fugen Shinjin from Hakyu Hoshin Engi.

One my younger self would be excited about, ARTFX J Yoh Asakura and Hao from Shaman King!

Ruler (Fate/Apocrypha) and Avenger/Jeanne d'Arc 〔Alter〕 Casual ver. (Fate/Grand Order)

Zero Two (Darling in the Franxx), Llen (SAO Alternative: Gungale Online), and Annabel -fairy of ajisai-
Zero Two was a big hit!

Our staff also created some displays to show off our original Cu-poche and Frame Arms Girl series.
Persona 5's Hero Phantom Thief Ver., Little Red Riding Hood, Alice, and Alice Noir
The Cu-poche friends gang: Anne, Belle, Cherie, Dino, and Ewan.
Stylet, Baselard, Gourai, and Architect showing us how to build a Frame Arms Girl.

The Kotobukiya panel was at 11:00 on Sunday. Due to it being the last day of the event, we were a bit worried about the turnout but we ended up with a nice crowd!

In terms of updates, we revealed the sculpt for ARTFX J Dakki:

And the sculpt for our Ultraman Anime Version Plastic Model Kit.

We also tried something new, a character selection tournament. The characters we ended up with were not what I was expecting, but it ended up being a lot of fun. There were lots of plastic model kit fans in the audience that day!

*Please note that while our product developers will be referencing this data, we cannot guarantee that these products will be made available.

Overall it was a great time! We even got fan art at the panel!

Anyways, that's all I have for this year's Anime Expo.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the next event!

Right?? If Kotobukiya released any main cast characters from seven deadly sins I would probably sell my blood if I had too to own them! Also, if they announced they were gonna have all of em released with good prototypes poses, I would have a hard time not getting them all day one.
