How long do you like pre-order to release periods to be?How long do you like pre-order to release periods to be?

Hey, MFC.

What is your ideal waiting time between when a pre-order opens to when it's released/ready to ship?

(This quetion is mainly about figures, but it can also apply to stuff like merch sets/boxes, plushies, etc)

(This ask was inspired by my budget planning for figures. So far none of my pre-orders are coming into in my collection until July 2019. May change, though.)

6 months or less. I know some time needed for quality control and meeting the quota, but waiting 9 months plus is a joke. The constant delays are annoying as hell, and it completely kills my interest. I even forget the figure exists and made an order sometimes.
What's worse is companies delaying figures for no reason other than to "generate hype"

tharglet (Il y a 2 mois) #38519634The pre-order date period is far more useful to manufacturers though - it feeds into how many they'll make, thus reducing on wastage and ensuring they're making enough for market demand. Stores do the same thing, as they don't want to buy too much stock, which will then start eating heavily into their profits if they can't shift it. If a store overstocks badly, they may be forced to let the items go less for what they paid, and unsold figures can take up valuable warehouse space.
So pre-order periods are here to stay, as they benefit the supply chain too much.

That's true. It can definetly help companies put a number on how many to make. Plus, with companies now more apt to re-release, it can help if there is another growing demand after the first time a figure is made and released.

I wish it was faster! It's frustrating when a figure is 100% complete and looking beautiful and yet the release date is a year away (and then ends up delayed month ... after month ...)

The sooner the better I just really dont like waiting once i made a sure decision, theres times im here on the daily checking a figure thats 6 to indefinite months away from release and boi its frustrating.

If i was on the fence or needed to plan my finances i could always buy it after the figure is released.

I like playing the long game. It gives me time to save up while also allowing me to knock off a few aftermarket or pre-owned figures from my wish list while I wait.

I'd rather a less than a year wait, but still a few months to make sure I have some savings set aside. So a 3-6 window is pretty nice for me of the options.

I like anywhere from 6-12 months, it's easier to plan my finances to where I can get everything I really want. It drives me nuts when things pop up for like 1-4 months away and I can't get them because I already have other preorders and can't pile on too many things at once. Azone only gives like 1-2 months, it's way too short

S-Dawg (Il y a 2 mois) #38543495The wait between pre-order and release is an awful thing for me, 50% of the time I regret buying/ pre-ordering figures because by time they get there I don`t even care about them anymore...sucks the joy out of collecting for me.
