What is the Oldest Merch You Own?What is the Oldest Merch You Own?

Hey everyone!

While I continue to prep and ship prizes I thought I'd take a quick break and ponder on the details of collecting. Quite frankly, hosting a giveaway and getting through life is stressful at times so it's always nice to be able to diverge.

While I was printing labels and getting boxes, a question had crossed my mind:
What are some of the oldest items people own on MFC?

Personally for me, it's an LP for Ginga Tetsudo 999 soundtrack that dates back to 1979. Composed by Aoki Nozomi who also did other works for Fist of North Star.

See it here:

Kisida Kyoudan album for comparison.

and in the database: ITEM #340549

It was an interesting little thought and I had remembered that I bought this LP a while back as it was a show that my *parents* had watched when they were kids.

It's also worth noting that anime as the medium we know today hasn't been around all that long.

Let me know in the comments below what you think about all this!
What is your oldest piece of merchandise and what does it mean to you?
I'd love to hear!

I have a sofubi of Satan Beetle from Ultraman that isn't available on this site so I added the closest thing to it which was a grey repaint. The one I actually own is black and gold and dates to '89, I think.

The oldest anime merchandise that I have has to be a bootleg of a TenTen (from Naruto) figure. When I was like..8? Naruto was a big thing here so they were selling all they could xD My mom bought that for me for my birthday as she knew I love Naruto alot and since then I kept it even if I'm no fan of TenTen atm. The memory behind it stays.

Kirenisa I am a collector!
Hm I don't have anything nearly as old as that, the oldest thing I probably own is some pokemon cards from the mid 90s.. A Yellow Bulbasaur Binder I bought off ebay a few months back from the late 90s and my late 90s original pokedex (that still works :D) unfortunately a lot of my older Anime products I owned when I was a kid is long gone because my parents thought I was to old at one point in my life and got rid of it all, along with 90% of our game systems during a garage sale. (crying internally)

I use to own a lot of Anime / video game stuff I wish I had still when I was younger, I had the origonal Card captor clow cards set, the original Rinoa Squall necklace ring set, some old sailor moon and card captor sakura dolls and lots of Digimon and Pokemon toys / cards.. and lots more.

but jokes on them when I got a job.

I still have a toy or two from when I was a toddler but I don't think those counts.
Anyways based on this site, it would be this small Super Mario figure from 1989 ITEM #486532. My thoughts about it: I still happily own it, but I have more detailed Mario figures now.

Hmm.... I think the oldest would probably be some of the really old first gen Takara Tomy Pokemon figures from back in like 1998/1999-ish. They're in the database, but I don't really want to go digging to find them, but these would include Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, Metapod, Butterfree, Jigglypuff, and the old Ash, Misty, Brock, Jessie, & James among a couple others.

I also have the Charizard & Poliwhirl gold Burger King cards and their Pokeballs from around that same time.

haro (Il y a 3 mois) #39289072I have a fair amount of Urusei Yatsura and misc Rumiko Takahashi stuff from the early to mid-eighties. Most of it is flat merch; art, prints, calendars. I don't think any of it is in the database.

Urusei Yatsura is the ultimate nostalgia kick that got like a modern day resurgence.
It's so surreal knowing that these aging items are being loved and cared by so many.

Emillia (Il y a 3 mois) #39261269That is the cutest! I love Anne of Green Gables (and all L.M. Montgomery's books). I've been interested in watching Akage no Anne for a while now, but haven't gotten around to it.
You should definitely give it a watch, they did a really good job. It is a long watch at 50 episodes, though, lol.

It would have been ITEM #469, although she wasn't my first figure per se.
That was ITEM #13414 before I gave her away long time ago.
