Sachiko Painting!Sachiko Painting!

RokikiRokikiIl y a 1 moisTutorial
This will have less depth than my last post, mostly because I plan to rework this.

I am painting Sachiko from branpesto, I lost my sanding dremel, which would have helped me a lot, that and I could not for the life of me disassemble her head and hair so I stubbornly kept at it.

I did sand what I could at her hair, to eliminate lots of the bad spillout from the mold

Then I had to mask her face of course, even covered in tape, Sachiko is cute!

Next, while I do like her hair as is, I had to try to cover up the sanding, given, had I been able to take it apart, priming and painting, and of course sanding better than I did would be the better choice!

For the fluff, I used the same pastel method but with more water so the shading would really sit deep in the fluff

After some stippling with a fluffy brush it is now less, pure white. It still looks purple, but will even out once we shade the dress more.

Now the dress, I am trying to keep a textured look as much I can, so I dry brushed the shading here.

If there is one thing Im really happy about, is how the texture came out, I used a bit extra of matte setting spray to add more of that wool like texture!

For the boots I also added black to the bottom/heel, I really also enjoy how the boots came out!

Ta da! We have a Sachiko! While I plan to redo the hair I am happy with her!

As always, thanks for reading, I am glad the last post was well received, I hope to do more : )

Tomoe (Il y a 1 mois) #48485190Beautiful work! What kind of pastels do you use? Is there a sort of brand you'd recommend?

I use Loew Cornell pastels! But as long as they are not oil pastels they will be fine, but pigment wise those have worked for me!

Akiza (Il y a 1 mois) #48474283Can I ask for a ratio of water to pastel?

No exact ratio, but I get a brush wet, dab the wet brush onto paper towel, and go directly into pastel dust, the ratio does not need to be exact as you can wipe off excess once it is dry easily so I often overdo the pigment and brush it to lighten it as needed, hope this helps
