FULL DISCLAIMER: The stickers I use are a part of the Necoco sticker series by Solalis on Line, I did not draw these.

Hello everyone! I'm back to share another review with you all. I'm personally very excited for this one, but before I get into it I want to remind everyone to follow my Instagram for sneak peeks and figure tips and tricks.

I also want to announce that I've been working on my very own website! This website will showcase my amateur photography, reviews, and more! It's still under construction and really, the reviews will be linked back here in case anything happens, but I'm very excited to finally be able to get this rolling. ♥ I'll be announcing when that goes up on my Instagram first.

https://i.pinimg.com/236x/4d/4d/49/4d4d49d676d9cf562f40b4b6c29c34bd--cat-ears-thunder.jpg

Now without further delay, let's get into the figure!

FIGURE :: Fate/Apocrypha Jeanne D'Arc ~La Pucelle Version~

This was a figure I saw when it was announced, but I didn't know the series at the time. Once I watched the series and started getting into Fate more I decided that I really wanted a figure of Jeanne D'Arc in her La Pucelle outfit. This version is my favorite and the scene made me have so many emotions that I didn't know what to do with myself.

https://sdl-stickershop.line.naver.jp/products/0/0/1/1292442/android/stickers/11844761.png

Sadly at this point in time it was July 2018, the month before she was supposed to be released. I read the comments to find someone giving away they're preorder and that's when I found the beautiful soul infinity_haruka! ♥ They had preorder Jeanne through Nippon-Yasson, which I was wary about. I usually avoid NY due to their horrible reputation, but she was sold out everywhere else so I decided to take a chance.

Originally she was supposed to be released August 2018, as such, NY began sending payment invoices. Jeanne was preordered at 14500 JPY and EMS shipping was 3700 JPY, totaling at 18200 JPY. Since I do not use NY and do not encourage anyone use them I will not be providing a link to her page. I will not be speaking any more on this subject.

In any case, I paid and Jeanne ended up being delayed until February 2019. I was disheartened, but since she was paid for I asked to be kept in the loop for any emails and kept an eye on her figure page. She was finally released and NY had a free shipping sale, making me think that her shipment would be delayed longer. Fortunately I was lucky and she wasn't delayed that much and arrived early March! Haruka was very kind through the whole way and is such a dear. ♥

Before I dive into the box, I want to make note that Nippon-Yassan shipped her in a box that was barely bigger than the figure box and did one layer of bubble wrap and one sheet of paper on top. Thankfully she didn't arrive damaged, but I did have trouble with the tape and this happened:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171971.jpeg

Very minor, and my own fault. But just be careful haha

The box is very large! I don't have a lot of experience with Aniplex's figures, but I've heard a lot of their boxes are very large. As you can see the window shows off the entire figure. While the size does provide protection for the base's flames because the Jeanne isn't touching them, it can rack up the shipping cost. Especially if you live in a country that has high custom fees (I'm US based, so I don't know too much about that). I noticed she did not come with instructions, and while the set up was straight forward I can see how it might be a problem for new collectors. As from past reviews I'm truly not the biggest fan of figures without instructions. If you guys read my old review about Union Creative's Miku you remember how much confusion there was with a certain part.

However, I do like the box. It goes with the figure perfectly. ♥ I love the golden color they chose as it matches the serene nature of her expression and the color compliments the flames to me. The feathers provide an angelic air perfect for a saint. ♥

On the downside, to me the box feels thinner than most figure boxes I'm used to.

Overall, I do like the box! The blister protects the figure and base, and if you wanted to display her inside then it's perfect. The box is large and could make higher shipping costs.

BASE :: 7/10

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171974.jpeg

At a glance, the base is very simple and beautiful at the same time. I do wish the actual base wasn't a big white circle and had some color to it. It does go with Jeanne very well! Now let's take a closer look at it.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171975.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171976.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171978.jpeg

The only other figure I had with flames around it was Kotobukiya's Roy Mustang and if you owned that one or read the comments then you would know that over time the flames slowly started drooping. Those flames had more of a plastic feel to them while Jeanne's feel much sturdier. Like they're made with acrylic? They have a very similar feel to acrylic to me. Now here are pros and cons for both.

Roy:

Pros - Everything was attached so there was no assembly required. The flames didn't feel like they would snap off.

Cons - Flames did drop over time due to their flexibility.

Jeanne:

Pros - Sturdy and not likely to start drooping over time.

Cons - Attached to the base so it gets in the way of assembly. The ends do feel fragile, so approach with caution when assembling.

Now I can't recall Roy's flames very well as its been a long time since I owned the figure, but I love the translucent effect Aniplex did with Jeanne's flames!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172011.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172012.jpeg

There are some areas that I felt weren't meant to be completely clear but were. I'm not sure if that is a quality control issue or if that was meant to be presented that way.

Now this was a figure I had actually assembled onto the base once, but I felt a video was needed to properly show how to do this and to explain what I noticed.

https://sdl-stickershop.line.naver.jp/products/0/0/1/1196141/android/stickers/7971704.png

My mom and I are weird, I'm sorry in advanced.

Jeanne's legs do need to be spread while putting her on the base as the pegs are not exactly lined up. The flames are not detachable so they do get in the way and the ends are sharp so they could scratch you or break if not careful. I kinda had to wiggle her left foot on first before attempting the other foot.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171980.jpeg

Here's a photo of the bottom of her feet. You can kind of see how close together they are.

Now to mention the audible CLICK that happened when I attached her. Some of you might say that was my hand against the flames, but it wasn't. There is a click when you attach her last foot to the base. At first I thought I broke something, but it turned out I didn't and when I was attaching her for the video the same click happened again in the same spot. Even after the video my mom mentioned that she thought I broke something because of the click. I had not mentioned it to her beforehand.

https://sdl-stickershop.line.naver.jp/products/0/0/1/1196141/android/stickers/7971702.png

Let's take a brief look at her on the base:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171981.jpeg

♥♥

Overall, be very careful when attaching Jeanne to the base. I'm going to dock some point for the fact that it's hard to assemble and the click noise. Otherwise, this is a beautiful base.

PAINT JOB :: 9/10

SCULPT & POSE :: 19/20

Now then, let's take a look at everything she comes with:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171973.jpeg

♠ Jeanne D'Arc
♠ Sword of St. Cathrin
♠ Base

Again I will mention that she has no instructions. If you're used to most figures where you typically take apart the sword at the hilt to insert it in a figures hands then you'll be thrown for a loop with this figure. I was at first anyway.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171982.jpeg

I was seriously staring at the sword for a solid five minutes trying to figure out how to attach it. Then I took a closer look at Jeanne....

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171983.jpeg

That's when I realized you slide the sword in her hands! Like her feet I noticed her hands are exactly aligned, but they're easier to move and the sword is flexible. I do foresee this as an issue later on because I fell the sword will start to bend. To me this isn't the biggest issue as I can use a hairdryer if needed, but I can see how this might bother some people due to her price point.

With that said, let's see her assembled!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171984.jpeg

https://sdl-stickershop.line.naver.jp/products/0/0/1/1196141/android/stickers/7971718.png

Now first and foremost, I want to state the obvious:

"Her sword is blocking her face???"

FOR THAT I SHOW YOU

I got chills watching that again.

So needless to say, I think her pose is perfect.

Rather than using her sword as a sword, she holds it in front of her as the flower and flames grow around her. It is a weapon without being a weapon. I also believe this figure was meant to be turned slightly when displayed to receive the full effect.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171986.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172015.jpeg

Her expression is so steadfast and serene at the same time. If you know about La Pucelle, then you'd know that this Noble Phantasm is a suicide attack. It expends all her energy in one final all out attack. She uses it as a last resort and when she's ready to sacrifice everything to protect everyone.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171987.jpeg

Now I want to look at her armor. It is beautifully sculpted and painted! I love that you can see the overlays in the gauntlets and the engravings in her headpiece.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171988.jpeg

The chains wrap around her breasts, this stays true to the design. I do know that clothes don't wrap around breasts that way, but this is literally how her design is so I'm willing to overlook it this once.

So while I overlook it, I do want to say that the shading I see otherwise is very good! The other folds are very realistic.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172013.jpeg

A close up of her chains, I'm surprised at the detail on here! I usually see companies take the lazy way out where the links just meld together, but on this figure you can see each individual one.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171994.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171998.jpeg

Speaking of details, they continue with the trend all through her armor. They get everything down to the notches that allow her armor to rotate with her elbows.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171993.jpeg

Her headpiece and ornaments are beautifully done. I do feel the ornaments could break off if too much pressure is applied to them. However, there should be no real reason to place pressure there.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171997.jpeg

I can almost see the heat of the flames causing her dress to flow. The shading is beautifully done! I had concerns due to her dress being white, but thankfully they're unfounded. There seem to be hues of grey and blue to create the shading on the flods.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171996.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171999.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172002.jpeg

I appreciate that it doesn't flow very high or wide. If I had to complain about one part that looked too square for me it's in the back:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172003.jpeg

https://sdl-stickershop.line.naver.jp/products/0/0/1/1253244/android/stickers/10270620.png

I'm not sure if its my old eyes or what, but this part just looks too square. I feel it needs to be more rounded. But I could be a bidoof and just seeing incorrectly.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172005.jpeg

This is what I really appreciate! I'm sure there are companies that would either force her hair against her back or create a back for her dress, but Aniplex does neither. They even continue the chains wrapping around her!

WARNING - Possible panty shots.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172004.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172006.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172000.jpeg

The details for her boots and armor continue downward! Really the only place I found any paint errors was along the sword. Which is pretty impressive!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171989.jpeg

I do wish her rose was a little darker and fuller. I do like the rest of the design on the sword!

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171990.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172014.jpeg

There are some areas that I feel are messy and they bleed. I also see a few spots where the sculpt looks rough around the hilt.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2171991.jpeg

There's also a very obvious seam line where her bangs and hair meet. If you're bothered by seam lines this might be something that will turn you away.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172009.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172008.jpeg

The gradient is very beautiful! The paint is thankfully very smooth on her hair.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172007.jpeg

She's got a lot of hair! Sometimes I forget how long Jeanne's hair is due to how its cut and the fact its mostly in a braid. The sculpt for her hair is well done and it has a lot of detail in it.

Since I already showed the clear parts of the base under "Base" I won't go into that again here.

Overall, this figure is gorgeous! There are very few flaws and a lot of details. There are some aspects that are weird to me, but the paint and sculpt are beautifully done. Aniplex really did impress me with this figure and they made the wait worth it. Whether this figure goes up or down in the aftermarket I think this is a figure for all Jeanne D'Arc and Fate lovers!

Now last but not least, someone messaged me asking if I could show how I decide to set my figures up.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/03/12/2172016.jpeg

I currently have her next to Tenshi! I've been meaning to do an updated room tour, but since I'm still working on things I haven't wanted to share anything. This is likely to change as I determine my shelf themes.

That about wraps things up though! Sorry if I seem all over the place. I really do love this figure and I adore Jeanne! I am working on a few projects, one being my website, while working a full time job. I have some figures that-hopefully-won't be delayed that I'm excited to do reviews on. ♥

Until next time!

That was a really nice review, it was a pleasure reading it.

I am kinda torn on this figure (and on Jeanne's third ascension in general), because while I prefer her with a braid and with a little more clothes, the fact is that she really looks good in pure and virginal white, it reinforces her saintly paladin/holy warrior of peace aspects.

I dig that smiling sacrificial pose they chose, it looks really good, but yeah, they could have had the flames not directly tied to the base.

Jeanne is hard to resist tbh. I also get the space problem, I don’t have a big collection but it’s still hard for me to fit it all so I can’t imagine too many more boxes >-< Anyhow I hope that you enjoy all your Jeannes!

LemonMIntCatIl y a 1 an#54354974They are all super amazing figures but I am trying to pick just one if any! I really liked the GSC one but I keep thinking maybe ascension is better. I like the GSC one bc she is shouting which I sort of love~ ready to fight to protect the world! And honestly the Alter Jalter (lol) figure is out of budget. I am also not sure if I want to save that money for Mordred (ITEM #624643) but the fact she isn’t available everywhere with the special base is such a disappointment. TOM is the only place to have her and for so much just to get a clear base... Anyhow enough about Mo-san. Are you planing to get the Jalter or Jeanne GSC?

LemonMIntCatIl y a 1 an#54354215Thanks for the pleasant review! Jeanne 3rd accession is lovely and the scene in apocrypha is very impactful. I am glad that she turned out well for you if only a little difficult to put together. I was hesitant about this figure bc of the way she is holding the sword but the flame base is very nice. I guess I am still waiting to see the Flair one painted.
But in the end thanks for showing off this lovely Jeanne and for the detailed review. Also I loled at the bidoof reference!
