Found a user defacing the rating systemFound a user defacing the rating system

So I was looking at the top 100 best rated figures, and realized a few figures that used to be high had seemingly disappeared entirely from the rankings. I thought maybe they just got a few bad reviews, but when I started looking into the matter I noticed 3 things: 1)these figures had lower total user ratings 60 or less found a few outliers 2)they were mostly Alter figures 3)the same user was continuously rating these figures at a 1, while majority was 10-9 with a few 7-8.

I know this probably isn't a huge issue, but I feel like this undermines a lot of figures and it becomes a worry when people use those rankings to see average opinion of a figure. Is this a reportable offense or can nothing be done about it? What do you guys think of the rating system?

I've never paid much attention to or used the rating system on here for anything.

Some people have too much time on their hands it seems.

I think most people pay more attention to reviews, photos, and their own opinion more than a rating system in this community.

I've seen a few cases where it appears people gave figures low ratings by mistake. In one example, someone has a figure favorited, yet ranked it with 1 star. This could be due to a misunderstanding of how the rating scale works. In some systems, a 1 would be the highest value and 10 is the lowest, but here at MFC 10 is the highest and 1 is the lowest.

I might glance at MFC's ratings just to see if it's particularly low since usually that does actually mean lesser quality, but mostly I base my opinions on reviews and images, especially since there's been multiple instances where a figure is rated super high for what looks mediocre to me.

I've had the section on the front page for the top rated/wanted figures hidden for years, I forgot it even exists lol. I personally couldn't care less about top rated.

Similar to what others have said, i trust reviews and comments more over the rating system. each person treats the rating system with different values. Someone else's good rating could be lower or higher since everyone interprets the star amount differently. So their is no point judging their rating aside from seeing if they have positive or negative feelings depending on the amount of stars given since it's not like you can tell the reason why they gave it a lower or higher score. In the user you have mention's case, we can guess that they may dislike Alter, possibly due to increasing prices, which really isn't a problem and just their opinion so long as they are not mass creating accounts.

illumi4Love (Il y a 1 mois) #57429623I don't pay much attention to figure ratings, but I still don't understand the point in putting in time and dedication to ruin a figures rating, total waste of productivity.Shikaree (Il y a 1 mois) #57431236I think people can rate a figure whatever they want. I don't see what gives you the authority to judge whether their rating is valid or not.
Unless someone is creating dozens of multiple accounts to spam a figure with low ratings (why...?), it's not a problem.

this and this. unless someone is mass flooding accounts who really cares what someone's opinion is on a figure? most times, if people really want something, they're not going to care if it has a slightly lower or slightly higher rating, and theyre going to look into actual written product reviews. and if they look like mule accounts for someone to mess up rankings, report and hope mods do something about it.

The main problem here as far as I'm concerned is that if there's a minimum rating required to be in the top 100, it's pretty low, all figure are under 60 rating except one in the top 10. I'd personnally put the minimum at 100 rating and what would be much more interesting for this. Or having the option to change the minimum or even put a range would make it nice to look at under different value. That said, there's always people who will abuse that kind of system, just like the thumbs up/down were.

It's like the item on fire top 100 based on ordered + wished, making an 8 year old figure hold the first position on the "item on fire" top 100. Should be something like total additionnal wished + ordered in the last 7 days so that we get ever changing stuff and see what people are actually looking at.

I usually rate a figure after I have it on my hands but never really checked the total ratings if I am searching for one, I always check photos then comments. But I did checked top 100 a couple of times as well. Whoever is doing that is clearly trying to be an asshole and they are.
