Hi MFC.

The other day I walked into my computer room only to notice that something was a miss upon my wardrobe, yes to my shock and horror my Good Smile Company Ultimate Madoka had fallen of her base! Now this was heartbreaking to see as I'm sure we can agree that Ult Madoka is a beautiful and enchanting figure and is a jewel in any collection! So after gathering myself I began to assess the damage and the cause.....

First bit of damage, she has a faint paint transfer on her head from the paint on my wardrobe, this might be able to be removed with magic eraser but I have yet to attempt this

Next thing is her fingers have broken that hold the bow in place.

Finally the cause of this accident and I was shocked to see it! Yes the two metal rods that held her in place had snapped due to the immense amount of weight on the plastic base which had deteriorated over time. It seems one began to lean which put more pressure on the other and thus eventually both couldn't take anymore and snapped! Now this is worrisome for ULt Madoka owners, as I've had mine just over 7 years and for this to happen is disastrous and shows that GSC didn't think through the weight bearing issue with her, I hope to get her fixed and will update you guys should I do, but be weary and keep an eye on yours as this issue could be something that will happen with all of them eventually. I'd also like to add she was displayed away from heat and sunlight so really the only thing that caused her to fall was the pressure on the rods.

Anyway I think GSC should have had two transparent clips to hold her up to take the pressure of the rods, as this would have helped to stop this from occurring especially as I had her displayed with the giant bow which added extra weight.

Thank you for reading and hopefully yours doesn't have this issue, however if you have had a similar issue with her, please let me know how you managed to repair her.

shinhawkIl y a 5 mois#77683472I sold mine a few years ago and I was thinking of re-buying her. While looking through the comments, I saw mentions of her breaking off the base and then saw this article. I'm glad I sold her before this happened to me. Now I don't think I will re-buy her anymore.

That's a shame, I'm on the fence, as she is a gorgeous figure but the leaning is a problem, I've had her since release, so for this to happen shows she will last but not forever apparently, what really is needed is some clips to hold her up, so if I do gamble and buy her again I'd actually affix some clear plastic clips underneath the dress to counter balance the weight. I can't say it's put me off buying her again (as I do plan to repair my one at some point I'm scared I'm going to mess it up though! lol) but it's not a priority right now, she does pop up a lot though on AmiAmi pre-owned really cheap now too!

jumpluffIl y a 8 mois#74856744I think this would be invaluable for the community regardless of when you can get around to it. It's such a widely owned figure and it seems like it's starting to happen to a few people now.
Also I personally enjoy seeing that figures can be fixed because it eases my anxiety lol

RockGodItachiIl y a 8 mois#74949093Wow! So I'm not the only one? I thought I was, this shows that there really is a general design flaw with her, I'll have to try the magic eraser, it's got me out of problems before so fingers crossed it can do it again! lol Yes I would love to see how you did fix her, as my mate is going to help me and any pics would be greatly appreciated to help us repair her properly. :D
Done and done! PICTURE #2377235

I tried to explain how I did it in the comments, but if something isn't clear enough please tell me. lol

chronicvillainyIl y a 8 mois#74884413Oof, that's terrible! I sold mine after both of the bows broke, but I always felt that the part with the stand was a bit flimsy. I didn't think the figure would eventually topple off entirely, however. I hope you'll be able to repair her!

It is! I was heart broken to find her, as she is one of my fav figures in my collection, that's a shame, it is, I didn't really think about it as you just trust companies to get it right and have faith that the figure you've bought will last forever but it shows that we need to be vigilant on keeping an eye on these type of figures as once they start to lean we need to stop it asap, otherwise the'll be more post like this, which no one wants to see. Hopefully! When I do I'll share a pic. :)

LyncfsIl y a 8 mois#74905901The same thing happened to me after owning her for 6 years. I stored her away broken in her box. Sorry this happened to you too!

Ah damn! Sucks to hear you didn't repair her, will you attempt it at some point?

jumpluffIl y a 8 mois#74782741As a Madoka collector, I'm so sorry this happened to you :(
I worry a lot about these floating figures as they get older. Developing leaning problems in the longer term seems very possible, as you've just demonstrated... I'm going to have a look at my Ultimate Madoka some time soon.

Yeah it sucks, as Godoka is a stunning figure and I'm devastated that this has happened, agreed, I don't think companies think about the long term, as a lot of figures suffer leaning after a few years, I have few that I have to keep and eye on every now and then, as you just never know if they will fall or not. Yes please, do i'd hate to hear that someone else has had the same issue, so yes make sure she has some support. :)

Necroid_NekoIl y a 8 mois#74792834Oh boy, flashbacks to when my cat knocked a heavy bag onto my Godoka...she lost one arm and got some paint smears. I'm still amazed she didn't come out worse

Ah, sorry to hear that, did you manage to repair her?

SebastianLoverIl y a 8 mois#74803080Holy crap, I can't believe she just fell apart and with metal rods too! I'm glad your Madoka escaped with minimal damage. With her design it could have been a lot worse. I've noticed a lot of figures in the pre-2015 period have long term design flaws. Someone else posted a while back about GSC's BRS basically falling apart from uneven weight distribution. :/ Maybe we have to mod our older figures so they survive longer.

I know? I'm worried about ITEM #500291 as she has one metal pole holding her up, yes it's thicker than what Godoka has but there's still a lot weight there. Wow! That's terrible! You might be right, worth noting and just keeping an eye on them, I mean for the price you pay, you don't expect this kind of issue to happen but as we can see to flimsy rods aren't enough to hold that kind of weight over time and I am relived it's minimal damage as yes it could have been a lot worse but thankfully it isn't.

Hevlaska573Il y a 8 mois#74814894Ahh this happened to mine about a year and a half ago! I even made a comment about it but I haven't checked her page since then; it looks like it's happening left and right now. o_O
The paint scratch should go away with some gentle rubbing with a magic eraser, but I don't have any suggestions for her fingers without being able to look at it myself, sadly.
As for the skirt-base connection:
That's how I fixed it back then, and she's been great so far. So, if you have the ability to cut some wood and make some holes, I *GREATLY* recommend getting some Apoxie Sculpt (not sponsored lol) and doing what I did. She's a bit hard to get to at the moment, but if anyone's interested in seeing my fix I'll try to take some pics!

Agreed! Pics would help greatly in getting an idea on how to repair her and get her back to her former glory! :D

Hevlaska573Il y a 1 an#42625394Also I guess an update on the broken skirt pegs: ended up almost immediately ripping my panic fix apart and filling the gap with the aforementioned Apoxie Sculpt. Drilled two holes, made a base out of some scrap wood, screwed it in from under the base and... she's more stable than with her original base. lol
