What do we think will happen for this years announcements? What do we think will happen for this years announcements?Ask MFC

Hello everyone,

Obviously, I think we can all agree, this year has been pretty bad... slow for prize figures... and pretty lackluster in various figure announcements.

I'm sure a lot of people were quite excited for the online figure festival goodsmile hosted last weekend, while most other people were probably quite happy with the event however, I felt a little disappointed by the lack of new announcements. (Of course, I think it is great that the company wanted to keep us collectors entertained and I'm more than grateful of how much they're doing to try and keep the community going).

I think we all have these questions raging in our heads every time we check our news outlets, twitter and MFC; Will other companies follow Goodsmile's path with an online figure festival? What will happen with announcements this year considering the cancellation of Wonfes 2020 autumn?

I wanted to make this article and ask these questions to have a discussion with the community and see if anyone has any particular news, knows anything, or just simply share our frustrations with this year and how difficult it has been (and of course rant about this dam virus cancelling our festivals!! lol)

Hope everyone is staying safe and sane!

More Miku,Funko Pop, and other such disappointments

I was expecting more announcements. Was a bit disappointed too. Still I'm looking forward to the Hiei Pop up Parade figure. He is GSC's best announcement for me.

I don't really check into the online events. I just wait for the announcements to go across my Instagram feed. Which isn't smart because they don't show all of them there... but with my budget cut down to almost nil, it's just a downer to see figures I can't buy. (I did preorder Connor. I can budget for one, and he is that one. Now we've gotta pray for Marcus and Kara and Alice and Hank and Sumo an-)

I actually forgot about the GSC festival and I was getting some notifications on here which made me log in since that rarely happens anymore, but I was actually pleased. Almost everything in my wishlist was updated so I think it's fine? The past few weeks I've been really bitter because I feel like Goodsmile has only been pushing Marvel and Fate stuff (at least that's all I'm notified about) and the things in my wishlist haven't been updated in a LONG time. I was starting to wonder if they were just giving up. When almost everything either received a prototype or painted I was ecstatic. I was a little disappointed that the Dakaretai Nendos didn't get an update, but that was my only con of the whole thing. I don't mind the lack of new figure announcements because then they can focus on some of their other projects that I feel like they haven't even started *glares at Phos Figma* but I know others feel different about it. That's just my two cents.

The GSC event was definitely a super disappointment. I live on the east coast of the US, and actually woke up at 1am to watch it live, and with the order they listed it in, they made it sound like all the new figure announcements would be at 3am. Unfortunately, there were no real 'new' announcements in that segment, and I eventually just turned it off and went back to sleep.

On a similar note, Aniplex had their Online Fest that same weekend (Sat and Sun), and actually had a 'Making Figures' panel which was super interesting. They looked at the whole process from the image design, the translating 2D to 3D, the sculpt, and the painting. It'll be up until the end of the weekend for anyone who might be interested (and honestly, of all the online cons I've watched, Aniplex's was THE BEST hands down)

murialitaIl y a 29 jours#80248900I forgot about the GSC event until the day of when someone posted about it, and got excited. When it actually happened, I just felt meh to it. Little news, not a lot of new stuff, and I honestly would have preferred a page with a list of pictures opposed to the "3d gallery" thing they did. It was fun for a couple minutes, then I spent most of my time roaming around looking at the old figures they had on the shelves.

I totally agree about the gallery, probably would've been better to just have a page with pictures, I think that is a better idea and much less expensive for them lol
You don't have to be an outlier here, I made this article to talk about this stuff especially given the current circumstances. Personally I like the whole big event thing, gives me a date to look forward to and a reason to get up in the morning.

I kinda feel like an outlier here in that I keep seeing new figures announced or put up for order I have to slap my hand and say NO! as it reaches for the order button. They just get spread out now rather than being combined into one central major event.

I try to look at it in a positive way, which is that slowing down the influx of figures will also mean my room won't be filled to the brim as fast and basically lets you take it easy for a while. It's a good period to start learning / looking into x interest you've had for quite a while but never really made time for.

After watching the Good Smile event for a while, I lost interest pretty quick. It was a pretty long event and while I think it's cool that Good Smile took their time to do it, for me as a non japanese person who didn't understand anything they said, it would have been a more enjoyable experience, if it was a lot shorter. That is also one of the reasons I liked their digital showroom. I think more companies could do something like this. The design was pretty basic. The 3D Programming was very simple, so it shouldn't take too much money and manpower to get something like this done. In my opinion the best solution wouldn't be a single event by each company but one of the big shops like amiami making a digital showroom.

littlefishgirlIl y a 29 jours#80216718I’m with you—I was pretty disappointed with the reveals for this supposed WonderFest fill-in. Too few new products, not enough updates on previously announced. Still no news on ITEM #675843 !! I feel like since there was already not going to be a summer Wonfest (because of the Olympics, right?) all of these companies should have already been prepared for an online marketing push...and this just wasn’t much. ¯\_(ツ)_/ I considered writing a similar article wondering about the fizzle of an event—-it would have been titled, “That’s It??” Lol

I’m glad I’m not the only one, I felt so upset when I realised that the announcements were over, I was looking forward to seeing some new stuff and was quite disappointed when I only saw four KD Colle figures that were already announced
