! This review is from a character clothed in lingerie-style. This can be seen as NSFW !

Welcome to my review of MiG-60 from the Mecha Musume-series ITEM #4716 ! Before starting with this review, I will explain what Mecha Musume is and who MiG-60 is.

Background

Mecha Musume is a variant of Moe Anthropomorphism (also known as Moe Gijinka). This means a character is dressed up or combined with an inanimate object, an animal or a certain occupation for example. The most well known Moe Anthropomorphism is Kemonomimi, the combination of characters with animal ears and tails. Mecha Musume is the combination of characters combined with military hardware, the most well known versions are combinations with planes, tanks, guns and ships.

The MiG-60 model did not exist by itself, but the model that comes most close to her is MiG-3, an Soviet Army warplane. Here is an example of another MiG:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1978201/migpl.jpg

So you guys get the idea of how the original plane looks. :)

The character MiG-60 is an combination of Mecha Musume (soviet warplane) and Kemonomimi (cat).

Original art

The figure of MiG-60 was designed of an original illustration of Humikane Shimada (also known as Fumikane Shimada):

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1978201/mig.jpg

Humikane Shimada is seen by many as the pioneer in Mecha Musume designs. He is most known as the character designer for Strike Witches, but has worked for many other anime and manga series, such as Girls und Panzer, Busou Shinki and Sky Girls. He also publishes his own artbooks and doujinshi.

The Box

Let's get this review started! With...the box!

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Zfq364aH4jw/UU2IYUR7WvI/AAAAAAAACS8/nO5_KPTCsps/s640/IMG_7594.JPG

The box is completely closed and decorated with art from Humikane Shimada and pictures of MiG-60.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-R4H2FsGWySU/UU2IeAqPyLI/AAAAAAAACTE/DorCFMU35PQ/s800/IMG_7595.JPG

There is a front cover which can be opened, revealing a window to look at MiG-60 and a Russian logo.

Overall the box looks very special and the cover that can be opened is a nice touch.

Extra - Artbook

MiG-60 came together with a small artbook.

! If you want to view the full picture (some are cut off) rightclick and open the picture in a new window !

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-eZZc0YuPpb4/UU2IjzY87CI/AAAAAAAACTM/3PqqlOrECBw/s800/IMG_7596.JPG

The front shows the original design this figure was made from and a beautiful sunset.

The years the MiG-60 has been used and some more art.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-TP9E2SrkvG0/UU2It3qwrgI/AAAAAAAACTc/3PEYfTffosk/s1440/IMG_7598.JPG

As you can on this page and the few pages before this, the artbook is a combination of Japanese and Russian. Which means I can't read any of it! Sorry readers!

This page shows what I think were flight routes for the MiG-60.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-QGkpDG81PBs/UU2I43x4myI/AAAAAAAACTs/QIzbzuRSl-w/s640/IMG_7600.JPG

A beautiful drawing of MiG-60 doing some maintenance and/or cleaning on her legs.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1k_yw6iUfPs/UU2I97oaIgI/AAAAAAAACT0/YEdR2BGL0Aw/s1440/IMG_7601.JPG

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-8LOPahbVZLE/UU2JDhBJXiI/AAAAAAAACT8/ojtUDLOpX1c/s640/IMG_7602.JPG

I absolutely love this drawing! The colours and the facial expression of the girl are so cute!

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Q-n5_lseRCk/UU2JIci_KEI/AAAAAAAACUE/PtufmUlKySU/s1440/IMG_7603.JPG

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-_tZQQL_g6kk/UU2JOYtlQfI/AAAAAAAACUM/wUIm5ArqRnI/s640/IMG_7604.JPG

The Ty-22 is another type of Russian plane. I like the fact that this girl is more of an plane, than only having plane-legs.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-L7j8r0bXkmg/UU2JTKp_nHI/AAAAAAAACUU/GK-6ksgnYoc/s1440/IMG_7605.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qRE1tlfK5F4/UU2JZKqNcNI/AAAAAAAACUc/Do_udxnvGNk/s800/IMG_7606.JPG

I like the design of Me109F's plane legs. They look a lot more comfortable than the Striker Units from Strike Witches!

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-b7KJBMysIxs/UU2Jd9cwkaI/AAAAAAAACUk/hqltZeay1FU/s1440/IMG_7607.JPG

The same landscape-picture as the book opened with.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-5OFqFRCuMcw/UU2Jj60r0AI/AAAAAAAACUs/lM9TX7Uy1sk/s800/IMG_7608.JPG

The backside of the book shows the Russian Logo again. The book got a little bit damaged while removing it from the box. There isn't a special place in the box to put it in so it is lying loose behind the figure, easily causing damage.

Overall the book was a nice extra and is printed on very high quality paper. An awesome bonus to get with a figure!

First Look

And now...onto the figure itself!

The Figure

Let's take her out of the box!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-S0_wp0Dd9zU/UU2J_W4QpYI/AAAAAAAACVU/NwUKUa6tZn4/s640/IMG_7613.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ZX0TZKdrCsQ/UU2KP3uSQII/AAAAAAAACVs/msW_qoT-huI/s640/IMG_7616.JPG

As you can see...I need a piece of plastic to keep her standing up...she has quite some balancing problems since the plane she is holding sticks so much out...

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-KcAx44GFJ9I/UU2KVp4jnGI/AAAAAAAACV0/VahI5ij-Yuo/s720/IMG_7617.JPG

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-bORqt0Y1omU/UU2KbUiuxmI/AAAAAAAACV8/lOvGQ9CrswA/s720/IMG_7618.JPG

She comes with a loose extra part of what I think is a small plane-wing. The string is made from leather and looks very high quality.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-aGLVcquP5Hk/UU2KgyhLKqI/AAAAAAAACWE/tTuFZ_9Het0/s640/IMG_7619.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Z0ByRDeuLK8/UU2KxJ9pV0I/AAAAAAAACWc/4vvqKlR0iX0/s640/IMG_7622.JPG

You can decide yourself where you wild like her to wear it, I decided it would look the best as bag.

Looking at all the details!

Now it's time to look at more detailed pictures!

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-PlP0GhPK4As/UU2K28TwDWI/AAAAAAAACWk/61tt4h_i92Q/s800/IMG_7623.JPG

...wow. Her face looks nothing like the art at all...her face looks squashed. Her skin is shiny and she has orange eyebrows while her hair is blonde...this doesn't start off well...

A positive point that I find here are her eyes. They are very nicely put on decals. Also the detailing in her hat is quite nice.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-U0YvBFL_kFc/UU2K8AP5bGI/AAAAAAAACWs/XoMmANobkSg/s640/IMG_7624.JPG

Well...this is looking better! What amazing details at her hair! I think I have never seen a figure with so much loose strands of hair as detailing! It looks quite amazing and is a pleasant surprise!

But...ther are also downsides. You can see a huge seamline at her clothing here. I know it's transparent material, so it would be nearly impossible to not have a seamline, but this one is so big, it takes too much attention!

A spot above her ear wasn't painted, making her look like she has very weird ear-shape...but look at the ear itself. It is very nicely detailed! Another detail I did not expect!

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-CjJYDl2ZFyY/UU2LB64TCzI/AAAAAAAACW0/9W4-WCn7UFc/s640/IMG_7626.JPG

Her hair...looks amazing. The strands look so lively!

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-BEvGbffvQ2o/UU2LHT_ImsI/AAAAAAAACW8/tFjBMcXxdVs/s800/IMG_7628.JPG

On her front-side however, her hair doesn't show much detail or strands at all...

If we move down to her neck we see a collar with a necktie coming out. It's very minimal detailed, but looks nice.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-YlWV_mmDE4o/UU2LM4QwQII/AAAAAAAACXE/eB7VnMOhp5Y/s640/IMG_7630.JPG

Her necktie also shows an russian star.

Now we can take a good look at her clothing. She is wearing a corset with matching panties, garterbelts and gloves and on top of that she is wearing a transparant shirt with puffy sleeves.

The transparent effect doesn't look as transparant as I would expect, you can't really see much through it. Yes, a corset is visible, but you can vaguely see that the corset is quite detailed...I would have loved to see more of that, but that's not possible (unless I would cut her shirt of, but I'm afraid of damaging the figure that way).

Her panties have a huge ribbon on the side and she wears them on top of her garterbelt. Both are plain white with no detailing (except for the ribbon). The paint isn't done perfectly here, but it looks very acceptable.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RcFpS7ZMCIc/UU2LSCuFOHI/AAAAAAAACXM/Qa5h6QfQycE/s640/IMG_7632.JPG

While shooting for this review I looked back at the box a lot of times....where did it go wrong? My main problem is that I don't get why they changed her face so much...

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-PzE4F77cXSM/UU2LXmVJWGI/AAAAAAAACXU/upZeyhzgjhg/s640/IMG_7633.JPG

The fact that they made the transparant shirt is quite a pity. On the figure it's made of a very thick plastic material, making the figure look a bit bloated...while in the original art the shirt accentuates her slim body.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-C3rpT-ZsXvQ/UU2LcxJxTJI/AAAAAAAACXc/X9WctoziIDA/s800/IMG_7634.JPG

Okay enough about that! Moving down to her legs. Only a small part of her legs are visible since she is wearing plane legs.

Her legs are nicely coloured, they are not shiny like the face is. Her panties show a big seamline unfortunately.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-prydLSAsHqo/UU2Ln13xrsI/AAAAAAAACXs/Vcsdp_S6zU0/s800/IMG_7636.JPG

From the front you can see her legs have quite some "scars". Which is quite weird, since MiG-60 has been in her box for almost 6 years before me opening her for the first time. So it couldn't be damage from the previous owner. Luckily these scars are only visible when you put her in a lot of light.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-w00xNkreMTU/UU2LiTZ29iI/AAAAAAAACXk/mS5oBf8AqxI/s800/IMG_7635.JPG

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-9Sejpa8lL_M/UU2LtkDsF0I/AAAAAAAACX0/TWv2M8P3GaQ/s640/IMG_7637.JPG

From the side and back you can see that her corset also has a piece of fabric that covers her butt and is very long. It looks nicely detailed. You can also see her cat-tail coming out from it, it is black with a white transition at the end. In my opinion the cat-tail looks quite out of place. Of course, MiG-60 has black cat ears, as shown in the artbook that comes with her, but since her ears are covered up I would have expected her tail to also have some sort of cover (for the cold of flying?). But yeah, actually mecha musume designs don't make much sense at quite some times! (I wouldn't want to fly in the air in only my thin lingerie!) ;)

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0aEXAnjPcMQ/UU2Ly0eOIjI/AAAAAAAACX8/kymu6VuDS1s/s640/IMG_7638.JPG

Her hand is nicely shaped, not much details and the paint is also done well.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-73KRMRylVIU/UU2L4KPX2nI/AAAAAAAACYE/yzPd9X5MteU/s640/IMG_7639.JPG

Her other hand is unfortunately not so nicely detailed, it consists of one big piece. She is supposed to hold the front of the plane, but her hand seems to be floating above it. Her hand needs to be "clicked" into a hole in the plane. This unfortunately doesn't work very well, so it get's loose a lot. In this picture it is clicked in, so you get the idea how bad it looks when it's clicked out.

Now, let's start looking at her mecha-parts!

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ZUxy8zabbZE/UU2L9oniMSI/AAAAAAAACYM/FyJyS1877F0/s640/IMG_7640.JPG

The detailing on her plane legs is quite nice, all of the details have also been "traced" with darker grey paint. It looks so clean compared to the paint on her body.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-IhaKRB8ZT1s/UU2MC3zmabI/AAAAAAAACYU/c2EV_UQ88Cs/s640/IMG_7641.JPG

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-bKz41DoiVhw/UU2MOO27aqI/AAAAAAAACYk/zudJL2MdcTI/s640/IMG_7643.JPG

A big eye catcher in the art and on the figure is the fact that she is "opening" her leg. The mechanic details inside are very nicely detailed and painted.

In this picture you can also see the tip of her tail, which ends in white.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RwTz-IK4-i4/UU2MIpaPJ4I/AAAAAAAACYc/YwfemXbCIDg/s800/IMG_7642.JPG

The paint on this part of the leg is a little bit "sandy'. Was it dusty in the painting factory? However, this is only visible in daylight/bright light.

The bottom of her foot consists of a sort of skate. It's nicely formed and painted in a beautiful silver color.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-3rtkyion_Aw/UU2MTX7NH8I/AAAAAAAACYs/1rdNgxvT8Q0/s640/IMG_7644.JPG

Her right plane leg has the exact same detailing as the left plane leg (well except for her opening it of course).

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1U2SV72ertk/UU2MYgi3VgI/AAAAAAAACY0/owyJrEWgPU4/s640/IMG_7645.JPG

The bottom of her right plane leg has a bit of scruffs in the middle, it looks like a mistake while gluing the parts together, so I think it's only my copy of this figure having it.

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-gJqrObgRQHs/UU2M6EImk1I/AAAAAAAACZk/aeJp9kIVpMc/s640/IMG_7651.JPG

The backside of her right leg also shows some of the mechanics going on in there.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-d_vCgXIr9sE/UU2MeBVkvsI/AAAAAAAACY8/gQ-oMIoi258/s640/IMG_7646.JPG

And now, we'll take a look at the huge "prop" she comes with! A loose MiG-60 plane in "small" size, so she can hold it!

The propellor has some scratches at the top, but looks good overall. The propellor can be turned around.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-k5XtV_Q1H3Q/UU2MjrTXJuI/AAAAAAAACZE/52cPatjt6ek/s640/IMG_7647.JPG

The plane itself has a very big seamline at the bottom, but also here, the painting has been done very nicely and the detailing looks good.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-gdQh-GbbWXU/UU2MpG84RKI/AAAAAAAACZM/Une43chQUlc/s800/IMG_7648.JPG

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-pHAy7dDzzmM/UU2NExlD7MI/AAAAAAAACZ0/SZtzeheWvc0/s800/IMG_7653.JPG

The plane even has a small cockpit with see-through windows!

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-8wLDELbfpRg/UU2Muy9LJlI/AAAAAAAACZU/5VBzya0SVtg/s800/IMG_7649.JPG

At the bottom of the plane there are nice details again, but there are quite some leftovers from the mold to be seen on the top.

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-6nyJK5gWOB0/UU2M_crH57I/AAAAAAAACZs/MBp_7Pz3kAI/s640/IMG_7652.JPG

Overall the plane looks quite good!

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/--p9q0dQwVUc/UU2M0TLDzZI/AAAAAAAACZc/TJ7CnfICIaY/s800/IMG_7650.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-FUYt3_sMz4Y/UU2NKtm_y_I/AAAAAAAACZ8/G8xWY0Zlj_A/s800/IMG_7654.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-oHQWjo3Bfqk/UU2NP2f6JaI/AAAAAAAACaE/3b7Mwn0lBjg/s800/IMG_7655.JPG

Her base it quite small, just big enough for her right leg and plane to fit on it. It shows her name and (probably?) her Russian specifics.

A strange part is her right leg, who has it's own small base which is glued onto the big base. It shows a big seamline and lots of leftover glue.

It's probably for the sturdiness that they did this gluing, since she is only standing on one leg, but it's just not a visually appealing solution.

Summary or tl;dr

Reviewing this figure was like a roller coaster ride. I was going through ups and downs the whole time. Pointing out the postive and negative points was very good do-able, but giving grades for this figure was quite hard.

Positive
- Very special box, with the cover opening.
- Beautiful eye decals.
- Unexpected detailing (hair, ears).
- Her mechanic parts are defenitely the stronger parts of this figure, they look nicely detailed and painted.

Neutral
- Doesn't look a lot like the art.
- Some spots were forgotten to paint, but noting completely horrible.
- Sturdy base, but with weird glue spots.

Negative
- Balancing problems.
- "Squashed" face.
- Shiny skin (only in face).
- Noticeable seamlines.
- Her "transparant" clothing effect that is also very thick.
- She doesn't really like holding the plane with her hand...
- Some leftovers and scarring at a few small places.

The Scores

Sculpting 6/10

A lot of detailing surprises were to be found on MiG-60, such as her hair and her legs. Unfortunately there are also ugly seamlines and a horrible transparancy effect. Bringing it overall to a 6.

Painting 6/10

A lot of parts were nicely painted (plane legs), but there were also parts forgotten or painted not so nicely (her skin/face).

Posing 9/10

I absolutely love the posing of her. It's a bit simple, but the fact that she is "opening" one of her mechanic legs is something I have never seen before on a figure! It's very original!

Base 6/10

Her base is very sturdy, shows her name and luckily is also small, but it has a very weird glue spot and seamline.

Packaging 9/10

The extra cover which can be opened and the room/blisters the figure has are amazing. Overall the box looks great, the only reason it's not a 10/10 is because there isn't room for the artbook to be in the box (causing it to damage).

Extra - The artbook 10/10

The artbook is a very awesome extra. It shows artwork of Humikane Shimada not published in any other books.

Enjoyment 9/10

Since I am a huge Mecha Musume- and Humikane Shimada fan and got the chance to buy this figure for a good price, I am very pleased with her! The biggest downside for me (and the reason for not giving a 10/10) is that especially her face doesn't represent the art very well.

And to finish it!

Here is how she stands in my current collection! She's in my small Mecha Musume shrine!

https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-hnBT3mZONic/UU2QGcMLXbI/AAAAAAAACaY/KSoK6u8f53M/s800/IMG_8113.JPG

For those who read all this way, Thank you! My next review will be about this Mecha Musume girl: ITEM #4715 I hope to finish it up in a few weeks!

And for the people that also liked my wip/tutorials of my Garage Kits, I'm sorry to say that you have to wait a little longer! ^^'' I recently finished a GK and I'm entering it in a competition! Which means that I can't post any pictures online, so the wait is a little longer!

Still gives me the feeling it isn't supposed to come off! :'D

I'm by the way finishing up my review of ITEM #4715 of the same set! Hope to post it here on monday! ^^

...wow. @.@

I knew she didn't have cat-ears underneath, but I was hoping she at least had hair there! xD And it looks like the inside of the hat is also unpainted? xD

About her hat...I unfortunately can't move it at all. User YuanMori told me she can completely take the hat off! Is the hat from your MiG-60 removeable? (Because I'm wondering if mine is wrongly glued or they forgot the glue at her copy of the figure! :P)

pauldyIl y a 7 ans#1492529I have this figure for a couple of years now.. but I must say you're lucky you got a better copy despite the figure's age. Mine's all smudgy and dusty looking when I got her but oh well.. She's very rare now..
My biggest whine for this figure is the design of her clothes. I would have preferred the decent looking skirted version of the Trading Figure than this see-through lingerie.. ^^; but I guess that what makes her unique.
About that "Gun Pod" bag she has.. the strap's made of paper. Eventually it would break down. Not high quality at all.. Mine disintegrated last year and I'm currently displaying her without her
"bag"...
Also, dust and smudge accumulation might eventually become a problem on her corset and body. It's partly exposed but it's hard to reach because of her transparent blouse.I wish her see-through blouse can be removed, just so I can clean her corset and body..
Nevertheless, she's possibly one of my memorable figures. She's my very first large scale Mecha Musume Figure... Nowadays I'm focusing on the Strike Witches figures by Alter
One last tip. You could "lower" her hat a bit so that her bangs would look more natural and her hat would look like it has a snug fit :)

Hrm, I don't think I have a better copy. Mine was sealed for almost six years before me opening her for the first time! ^^

I really like the see-through blouse, but they shouldn't have used such thick plastic for it... :<

Sad to hear about the bag! @.@ The string felt pretty good quality to me! As long as it can hold her, I will display her with it. I hope it doesn't break over the years... :/

Ah I see. So the dust get inbetween the body and the see through blouse...hrmm for me, only time can tell. I'm not into displaying figures in their boxes, so I don't plan to put her back in there (to avoid dust).

For the cleaning...I'm a GK-painter myself and have lots of very small brushes. So when she needs her first cleaning, I will try to fit a small brush into her sleeves to clean her from the inside. I hope that will work...

If the blouse could be removed, I would do it in an instant. It looks like the lingerie underneath is nicely detailed! (And it makes the cleaning easier of course.)

Very nice that you are collecting Strike Witches! For now, I'm focussing on the older design Mecha Musume's from Humikane Shimada and when I complete that collection (and live in a bigger home than where I live now) I want to start collecting Strike Witches! :)

About her hat...I unfortunately can't move it at all. User YuanMori told me she can completely take the hat off! Is the hat from your MiG-60 removeable? (Because I'm wondering if mine is wrongly glued or they forgot the glue at her copy of the figure! :P)

Thanks for the info by the way! Now I know what to expect if she indeed gets dirty or her bag would break!

You could "lower" her hat a bit so that her bangs would look more natural and her hat would look like it has a snug fit :)

victorviperIl y a 7 ans#1468376Very nice review. I always thought the Toranoana Mecha Musume figures were under-appreciated. They all have great box art by Humikane Shimada which looks nice on display, and I think it's interesting to display them next to my Koto and Alter Strike Witches. You can easily see (even more so from the artbooks that come with the figures) how some of Shimada's early designs morphed into the designs of the various characters in Strike Witches. For instance, it's pretty clear that Re2200 inspired the Francesca character, and some of the art booklets feature characters which look very similar to Perrine Clostermann and Lynette Bishop.

Thank you so much! ^^ The boxes are indeed a great postive point of this figure. I especially love the extra piece of carton so you can "open" the box. :)

I also like to look at Himukiane's earlier designs and compare them, such as: ITEM #4714 becoming ENCYCLOPEDIA #2021

I see in your collection you also own MiG-60 and Re2200. I recenly ordered Me 109E-3 to complete the set. Are you also thinking of doing the same?

agcpicturesIl y a 7 ans#1471443Ah, it's always better to know what to expect. And yay! Completing a set is a great feeling, isn't it? ^_____^

It's really great to complete sets! :D Now only to wait for her...! xD

Yes, compared to her original art especially her face and skin are completely off! :<

Yeah it's bad she has quite some issues, but they were expected since I already saw some other users-pictures from her! I still love the figure since I'm a huge Mecha Musume/Humikane-fan! And the artbook she comes with really makes her better! :)
I ordered ITEM #4714 a few days ago by the way. It's originally a set of 3, from which I bought 2 from you...now only this one was left. :) She will hopefully arrive soon!
