Wasn't sure whether to post this here or in a thread, but didn't see a thread that seemed to fit this.

noctisityIl y a 1 jour#130568446Hello! Yes, for books, an ISBN is required except in the case of event releases (ex: doujinshi, event pamphlets).
For CDs, a JAN and/or catalog ID is required. On the other hand, catalog IDs are required specifically for videos. If the someone has entered NA in the catalog ID to skirt around this rule, please feel free to alert it. Doujin CDs and videos are not allowed.

Thank you thank you! The CDs I wondered about are mentioned in an alert, but thank you for the clarification!!

MikatanIl y a 4 jours#130560467Voir le spoilerCacher le spoilerI was working on adding some goods for Tearmoon and one of the items is a set of 5 acrylic coasters that when layered on top of each other create one image. Normally I know that a set would dictate each coaster having it's own individual entry, but there are no images showing which images are on each coaster as far as I can see, so I couldn't confidently make accurate entries with the information given. Links to product page & tweet showing physical item. You can see some examples here of the same type of coaster with other series. This one actually shows the coasters spread out so you can see each individual one. Mostly I was wondering if it was okay to add it as just one entry since they are meant to be layered on top of each other and they don't show each coaster individually in any of the product images. Hello! For a case like this, it would be okay to make a single entry. It's similar to ITEM #315278 where it's near-impossible to figure out what each individual item will be based on the original product listing. I would say it's also on the same level as ENTRY #236713 where the original intention is to keep the set on display together.

Unknown404Il y a 3 jours#130561167Hello, are any products from toys spirits allowed to be added here?
toysp.co.jp/
Hi there! A lot of those items would fall under the generic definition and wouldn't be allowed under current rules. However, if you would like to make a case for them, there is currently an on-going discussion on generic items here: thread/19551

mintbunnyIl y a 4 jours#130560320How does one know what media is or isn’t allowed? I see music and video require CatIDs so if I see one of those where someone wrote NA I can report that? What about books, how do I know which books would or wouldn’t need some kind of JAN/ID? Or is it not that simple? Thank you!aisukaIl y a 3 jours#130562681Would like to ask the same question as well. After alert/90662 it gets confusing for me. I currently operate under the assumption that books that will have a ISBN cannot be added without (alert/94426). Hello! mintbunnyIl y a 3 jours#130563031That helps me a little honestly. I try to help with simple things, books are a field I usually stay away from. At least I know books tied to an event or another valid entry are okay. The books I was eyeing were art books from Comiket and I wasn’t sure if there was a blanket ‘all books from Comiket don’t have book codes’ thing. I’m just always afraid to report something and be wrong but that’s my own issue haha. But I don’t want to clog up alerts either with things I maybe should’ve asked about first. Though as those alerts talk about, it’s just not so black or white.
Oh ok this particular issue IIUC predates the change discussed in the alerts I referred to. For books at least: guidelines suggest ISBN is required (except "official" special-event (comiket, etc.) releases). So artbooks officially released in comiket or equivalent events could stay without ISBN. JAN is never required for books.
