To preorder or not to preorder. Thats the question. The figure looks great.

sminkiIl y a 7 ans#1164693I'm an obsessive Hyakka Ryouran collectior, but I've never bought anything Polystone. Are you likely to end up with a box of dust after a lengthy trip around the world?

I unfortunately can't answer that question, since I have no firsthand experience with polystone. I have read consistent accounts stating that polystone and cold-casts are guaranteed to break somewhere (possibly in multiple areas) if they are dropped, and various people have stated their order came in with a break or whatnot. These do seem to be minorities though, it appears as if most polystone figures arrive unharmed. The one polystone fig I ordered (Echidna) arrived with no damage according to my friend. I haven't seen it personally, so I really hope he wasn't lying. People also report polystone figures breaking just from falling over, resulting in broken figures/external appendages/objects.

The reason this particular figure makes me wince at the thought of shipping is because there are multiple thin areas extended away from the main body. The two swords, their sheaths, the rope, the hair strands; all these areas are long and thin. No matter what the material, long and thin objects break much more easily than shorter/thicker. According to various users, polystone and especially cold-cast can be compared to ceramics or glass.

Ultimately it probably depends on chance and who's working. Some employees throw objects around like footballs, some actually care to not damage the boxes. In the case of this figure where there are multiple structurally weak points, I think it is important to be aware that it MAY not come to you completely intact, and some repair work may be required.

Hopefully someone else can offer more information.
