Voir le spoilerCacher le spoilerThehomelessman (Il y a 1 mois) #53314367Hello, world. First forum post on MFC.
I have a collection of mostly Nendoroids and prize figures, with a couple scales. I keep them behind glass that is rarely ever opened (usually just to add a new member of the collection).
I am deathly paranoid about dust, simply because my figures never get dusty.
My oldest figures from about 2 or 3 years ago are still spick and span. I dusted them monthly with make-up brushes for maybe 3 or 4 months before leaving it to an 'inspect and clean if necessary' policy. Apart from a pre-loved Saber Lily nendo who came with her own issues (sticky pvc and some caked on dust I can't seem to brush off), none seem to ever have more than a stray cat hair that managed its way in when the glass was open.
I still inspect infrequently, but have yet to have any real issues. Is this really possible or am I just a blind idiot?

In a properly closed display, dust can take months or even years to build up so what you describe sounds pretty normal

    Hello there!

I would like to know if it's possible to "airbrush" transparent paint onto clear plastic parts and preserve the transparency?

In my case, I would like to paint the sword of ITEM #741846 (or maybe the one of ITEM #5738) clear navy.

    Would that be possible? :)

There are indeed airbrush paints that can be used on clear parts and preserve transparency. Tamiya for example labels them as "clear".
However bear in mind that since the paint is transparent, the color under it will affect the final look (i.e. clear blue on top of a yellow clear sword will turn out green).

Thank you very much for your answer! I'll get the clear one of ITEM #639324 which should work perfectly. :D

Hello! Could someone please explain what it means when an item lists "as exhibition" after the event name? I'm looking at ITEM #816775 in particular. Does this mean the bundle he comes in is only available at that event? Or will it eventually appear on AmiAmi/TOM/etc? Thanks!

    Copied from the help FAQ:

"Exhibition - event where vendors and individuals sell items."

In this case it just means Aniplex will have a booth at Anime Japan and sell the items you linked there. They'll probably be available online after Anime Japan, though since it's Aniplex, they might only be sold on the Aniplex+ store. You can keep an eye on the Aniplex+ website/twitter and when/if they become available, look around on other sites like AmiAmi to see if they're also sold there!

The problem lies not with retailers but manufacturers. They are the ones that provide only a vague target date at the time of pre-order and then change it at the last minute when they realize that they're not gonna make it.
Have a look at Good Smile Company's news feed for example www.goodsmile.i...
Most posts are for announcing the precise release dates of items only a few weeks (or days) before they hit shelves or, most of the time, to push back the release to another month.
Retailers usually upgrade their estimated release dates to match with the new announcements but they are powerless to do anything about it.
As for what causes delays on the manufacturer side it's anyone's guess. If you ask me, it's likely a mix of:
    - unexpectedly high pre-order count
    - unexpected quality issues on the production line
    - unexpected whatever (earthquakes, etc.)

Does anybody know the FNC store (fanaticanime.com)? Their figures are looks so amazing and their prices seem reasonable too. What is your experience with the quality of their products? Share with me if you know anything about this store.

Hello anybody knows where can I find a garage kit painting service for the decent price. It could be a commission painting or paint shop. I'm looking for professional quality finishing with affordable pricing option.

Is there a specific reason why people can't change their username? I mean... I changed my username on over 15 platforms now and this is the only platform I can't change it. So why? I feel like it should be possible, at least with a restriction so that you can change only once every six months or so. But no change is crazy to me.

I think you can request a name change if you contact the site owner through mail, but I'm not completely certain. E-mail adress can be found here: about/contact/

hello guys. been watching videos and doing a little reading around the forums and i keep hearing about sticky residue on pvc figures if left unopened? is this inevitable if i want to keep them in their box mint condition? I have figures from a maybe 3 years ago that haven't been opened and becoming a little worried about them

Stickiness happens as the result of excess plastifier escaping from the plastic over time.
How fast this happens (if at all) will vary a lot from manufacturer to manufacturer and also depending on what year the figure was made.
Quality figures by big name makers like Good Smile or Alter are more likely to benefit from better optimized manufacturing processes that were refined over the years and so they will be less prone to stickiness.
So it really depends, a crappy figure or a bootleg may get sticky after only a few months while a good figure could stay clean for years or forever.

I don't keep my figures in boxes so I can't give you any statistics but for example when I bought this figure from Alter, she had already spent 5 years inside the box and showed absolutely no sign of stickiness.

    Hi there!

I wanted to add a CD of the band An Cafe -Gokutama Rock Cafe- but I own the European version of it: www.discogs.com...
How likely is it okay to add a European version of a Japanese band?

The FAQ for adding media items (like cd's) to the database states that the media has to be released in Japan with the sidemark 'Japanese releases only'. Sadly because yours is an European version it is not allowed in the database.
