    Anyone know how Surugaya's packaging is? I'm planning on using FJ's basic forwarding plan to order something from Suru. The impression I'm getting from this thread is that FJ will be shipping the package as is from the seller, if you opt for the basic plan. I only want a few straps and acrylic keychains so I'm not looking to spend a fortune on shipping.

    I've never done just keychains, but it is often large. I've only twice had orders that I could fit into SAL small packet.

    If you're only buying straps and keychains it won't be bad at all, I order stuff like that all the time and never have any problems. In my experience, FJ keeps things wrapped in the plastic bags Suruga-ya sends them in, but they don't reuse their actual shipping box/packaging. FJ just puts everything in a really thin box. iirc, my last order with them was only ~$12 to ship RSAL for a box of 5 giant keychains, 2 separate giant keychains, and 10 separate smaller ones, so their shipping on small goods definitely isn't bad.

    I've only had issues with FJ when I've been buying stuff that has large packaging of its own like figures. I got told a prize figure + 2 small plushes were EMS only a while back and the shipping cost was awful, so now I just look up box measurements on anything I want to order through them and compare it to the measurements on the biggest (which is still pretty small) SAL box they've sent me. If it's two items in one order FJ might shrink wrap them together, so make sure they'll fit no matter what direction they put them next to each other in, etc. It's annoying, but it's a lot less annoying than suddenly having to pay for EMS.

    Surugaya's packaging on smaller things that I got (cards, acrylic keychains) seemed pretty minimal. When I used FJ maybe 2-3 months ago, I made sure to only order small items and they came in a smaller/thinner box. It was roughly ...30cm x 30cm x 3cm? so still bigger than necessary but DEFINITELY fits within sal small packet. I also got...some folded poster and clear file so that's probably why they went with the box. When I ordered from FJ around a year ago and only bought keychains/rubber straps, it came in a thin envelope via unregistered small packet sal. I don't know what the material is called, but its thinner than cardboard but thicker than paper. cardstock maybe?

    If you buy a bag, then you'll get screwed like everyone else has posted here. If you buy tapestries/wall scrolls, you'll get screwed like me lol.

    That being said, anybody know about how FJ treats DVDs or PS4 games?

    This might be a stupid question, but just asking to be on the safe side, can I purchase R18 doujinshi with From Japan? Surugaya has some stuff I want to get my hands on.

    Nothing lolicon/shotacon so it's not legally dubious or anything. Just plain old R18 yaoi lol ;;

    You can! :D I ordered my R18 Nagasone/Hachisuka doujins off of them. The only warning that they give you is that they can and will ship out the R18 stuff, but you have to make sure with the customs of your own country whether they'll allow R18 stuff into the country, as FJ won't be responsible for returned packages because customs didn't clear it.

    Tofukins (Il y a 4 mois) #41694616I've made a couple of purchases using FJ and I completely understand that with the new Australian laws, we are charged with 10% GST. However when I was on their charge 2 payment their calculated GST is more than what I thought it would be.
    My purchases made totaled up to 36,320Yen so in theory the calculated GST should only be 3632 Yen, but it is showing up as 4362 Yen. Is there something I am missing here? Is there another charge I should be aware of?
    I have contacted FJ but was wondering if there's someone here with more experience could clarify this for me. It's the first time I've used a proxy so I have no idea if this is normal.
    Also it's ridiculous with their over packing, it's killing me in shipping costs the stuff I purchased does not even amount to 3KGs. This is probably the first and last time I use them. I just wished I checked here before making those purchases lol.
    Edit: They replied with "Yes we can confirm that Australian GST is 10%, from the 4362 charge your total should be 43620 Yen". But it's not 43620, it's 36320. This has been the most unhelpful and useless reply. I would definitely avoid this place as an Australian.

    I know this reply is very late, I've been out of the collecting loop a bit due to RL stuff going on, but I believe the 10% applies both to the items and the shipping. So that might be why it was more than you expected. It's also confusing because not all Japanese companies are charging the 10% on the shipping, even though they are technically supposed to. I don't know if that's just because they're trying to minimise the extra expense for us, or if it's because they genuinely don't realise they're meant to (I can imagine our government hasn't exactly been clear on everything).

    As far as proxies go, I've been using Zenmarket and then just changing the values on the invoice. They only charge you 10% on whatever invoice value you put - like I could have bought 10,000 yen worth of stuff off Yahoo Japan Auctions but said it was only worth 3000 yen on the invoice, and they'll only charge me 10% on the 3000 yen that they put on the box as the official value. Of course in that case you won't get the full insurance value if anything happens, but I'd rather take that risk. They weren't charging the 10% on shipping last time I used them (sometime last year); but I don't know if that will change. Depends if the Aus government goes after them, I guess.

    Big in Japan still don't seem to be charging the 10% - I just placed an order with them and there was no mention of the GST to be seen. As of end of last year Hobby Search wasn't charging the 10% either, don't know if that has changed.

    From Japan wasn't charging the 10% for a while there, at least I didn't get it on some auctions I bought last year, but I did get slugged it when a pre-order came in a few days ago.
